I want to be able to run Battlefield 3, Skyrim etc max once they release. Not really sure whats on the horizon to release hardware wise before these games hit. Isn't AMD's bulldozer line coming out soon? If not should I just upgrade now?

Just looking for a bit of advice since I haven't been following pc hardware since I bought my last computer.

What is your current hardware?

AMD Bulldozer coming in August or September. Not really sure what to expect from this yet.

AMD Southern Islands graphics cards also rumored for September. This is a tweak and shrink of the 6000 series.

Intel Ivy Bridge, the high end replacement for current socket 1366 processors coming Q1 2012.

Nvidia Kepler graphics cards coming Q1 2012.

Hard to say if its worth waiting for AMD's Bulldozer or not. Kinda sounds like it's performance might be on par with the current Sandybridge. But it might be fun to be able to switch from Intel to AMD and say you have an 8 core processor and perhaps get yourself on a new AMD Radeon 7000 and be completely AMD from CPU, motherboard, to graphics card.

I'm waiting until Q1 2012 though for Ivy Bridge and Kepler. I got a 4GHz Q9550 and two 6950s unlocked, so I can probably survive.

nVidia's new Keplar is due end of year, and personally, I see no reason to upgrade until Rage/Battlefield 3 and Skyrim come out and then only if you have an older video card.

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.

Generally the longer you wait: the better the hardware is and the more power you got for you money. I would wait if there is no huge pressing need right this second to upgrade.
