Samsung Galaxy S II delayed in the US because carriers not interested?

Samsung's new high end phone the Galaxy S II launched 2 months ago around the world and has sold 3 million phones already. But it's still not available in the United States.
According to this article it isn't Samsung that has delaying the launch, but the US telecom carriers. They apparently are not interested in selling the phone.

The article mentions someone from Verizon claiming Samsung is lacking expertise in CDMA networks (not even sure what that is really suppose to mean). But of course we have two GSM carriers in the US as well, AT&T and T-Mobile, that haven't picked it up.
I almost think Apple might have something to do with this. Apple is suing Samsung over the design and appearance of this phone and some others. Verizon and AT&T love Apple and maybe don't want to sell a phone that Apple is trying to get blocked? Sprint and T-Mobile don't sell iPhones, but maybe that still have aspirations of being able to someday so also staying away from the Samsung phone?

I would bet more that certain carriers wanted to wait for changes to data plans before releasing much better 4g phones

That happens about once every 2 years or so. Don't think that's usually the case. Though I imagine the Droid 3 launch with Verizon's new pricing tier might not be completely coincidental.

Don't care, the Moto Droid Bionic will be my next phone. I have a Samsung Fascinate and hate the damn thing. Samsung lost me when it took forever for them to push updates.
