dont see the point of the thread.

Everything in AC was a grindfest. Might as well complain about the game as a whole.

I don't know, AC never felt anywhere even close to WoW's grind. But I think you still missed the best part of the thread. If you read far enough down, you will see a "Vault all-star" making an appearance to defend the devs and tedious grinds in general.

On a related note, Arc- is AC completely dead? I have unsubbed to WoW and I used to want to read about some changes so I would come back and have fun. But now it has been a couple months and to be honest- I don't even miss it any more. Maybe because it was so broken by the time I left it. I am starting to get the AC itch again, but I don't want to resub if there are like 3 dozen people still playing!

I wonder if my little 3 school archer can even be resurrected after so many years......

he wasn't complaining about the game.

I'm playing on DT and there's 350-500ppl on at any given time of the day or night.

How many are macros is anyone's guess but I see people everywhere....there's a 10+ person fight going on in Town Network as I type this.

lol Town Network? I don't even know what that is. I might have to resub later just for kicks.

I have absolutely no idea how to play AC any more. I'm sure my 5+ year old gear will be uber by today's standards.

Even being gone a year means you have a LOT of work ahead of you to be competitive at the higher end. PvE or PvP.

Town Network was Turbine's glorious solution to them breaking every town portal in the game through 'lore'.

I certainly hope the 'lore' unbreaks itself because Town Network is just retarded

Raliera...

Only spawns at certain locations. If there are mobs at said location, he cannot be there. Kill said mobs, move to next spot.

Yes, I have a list of damn near every possible location.

No, I NEVER had a hard time finding him.

No, I never failed to get the kill when I needed it.

YES, I have killed him, and had him respawn in the exact same location.(multiple times)

Yes, I helped dozens of people get this kill on multiple alternate toons.

No, you can not have my list wink

Your list is useless Gutter. Ralirea can spawn @ any spawn point on the plateau. Which is why hunting for him during an olthoi invasion is the prefered method, since there are more active spawn points during that time. You've been on point lately. This time, not so much wink

Anyway, found him in about 3min by clearing spawns. He popped right in front of me more or less.

He can spawn at any spawn point on that plateau, so I think it's safe to say where he spawned today is on your list lol tongue

I disagree..

I've probably killed him 200+ times....and always at one of these sets of coordinates..

Never "in between" any of them....

Never anywhere else.

Of course, it has been years since then...maybe they increased the spawn locals to "all"...

There's a quote in that thread somewhere from a dev (I think Sev) stating that he can spawn at any spawn point on the plateau.

I don't typically say things I'm not sure of tongue

And I'm just speaking from experience.

The points cover the plateau...they make what I will call a "circular-ish" pattern..with a few outliers here and there....but they are definitely not "every spawn point" on the plateau..

All it will take for you to convince me otherwise is go and kill him about 150 times...and record each location...

The only problem is, after about 30 different locations, you will find yourself writing down coords you have written down before, an no others wink

Idk maybe I got lucky but I cleared one area and waited on the respawn, he spawned twice within radar range at the same time. Wish I had the coords to see if it was one of yours lol

There was a crater on the plateau, I used to run its rim to find him and if he wasn't there I would log out for about 15 minutes and then try again. Never took more then 4 trys unless somebody was out there also. Best I can do from memory though, that was a while back. I think this method works because if nobody is there the area despawns and when you log back in they all respawn at once.

Aye, empty (no players)land blocks have no mobs in them. Logging out for a bit resets the spawns happy

Yep, nothing changes.
Always the same people trying to dumb down excellent games to their low level.

And yeah, AC1 was/is a game where you don't have big arrows on a map to show you where to go. Most spoon fed WoW "WotLK epic" kiddies would be totally lost in such a game, that requires knowledge, exploration and research along with button mashing. Proof is made in these threads once again (both the AC forum thread and this thread here).

For the readers who don't know what the AC thread talks about, it's a mob that is part of quest giving you one additional skill point (which would kind of equate to one additional talent point in WoW, ABOVE the maximum allowed). It's normal that he's not easy to find. It's also a thing you only do once for a character.

Oh, and a last thing... AC1 was also about a community, unlike WoW where communities are limited to guilds. People actively posted on forums, notably the VN boards, to help each other. Things like the coordinates of that mob were frequently posted on forums by players who spotted him. That's also another difference between AC1 and the dumbed down games we have nowadays.

Wow, you even missed the point when re-reading it? That's not easy to do!

It's not "dumbed down". It is TEDIOUS. I don't even know why I am trying to explain, I imagine you would have the same blank stare as as I would expect from my dog if I tried to explain it to her. Time to cut my losses, I think.

lol I just seen this thread and had to giggle. I played AC from release til 05 then came back last August after a 5 year break. It has changed. Numbers are smaller but theres still that community feeling. I see a few of the old timers popping in to check it out again too. Anyone use to play on Leafcull?

AC community revolved around xp passup mostly. You could pledge to someone and they would get some xp also as you leveled. This would encourage them to help you with items or knowledge. Knowledge was important as the quests only gave vague hints as to where you should go and the land mass was quite huge.

AC talents were also very free form you put points into individual skills like sword, run, jump, endurance, etc so you could build a very customized character and really mess it up if you weren't careful.

Good game but botting was allowed and even encouraged due to the passup xp.

There was a freeform PvP server called DarkTide where you could attack anybody at any time which was kind of fun in a sadistic kind of way.

This right here was the biggest key, along with it not being so hand holding was what really sealed the deal on this game for me. No cookie cutter specs and everyone with the same gear. Not to mention how you didn't have gear that was bound to you.

Even though it was at the end of my playing, I loved doing the big tuskar raids, and just doing the old, epic questlines, frore for example. I'll never forget aerlinthe (spelling?) or killing the olthoi queen and getting my name broadcast and people whispering grats.

I remember my first guy I rolled was on Frostfell. His name was Sim Sulla Bim. Spec run, missle D, sword. No healing until level 20 or something like that and I used to regain health and stam by laying down on the ground. My patron was named Ganj - a very cool axer.
