"Looking for a way to make a quick bit of gold? Be sure to check the leather section of your local Auction House. Sometimes you can purchase a lower level bit of leather, turn it into a higher level piece of leather and sell it for a profit."

Seriously...

Someone needs to give me a decent tip for free gold... I am perma-broke and inflation in Cata is ridiculous. I used to be able to buy mats for good Epic gear and get them made for reasonable amounts, 2k bracers, 3k boots, etc... craftable gear is a fortune now!! I was considering buying a blue 2H for my war (level 80 and equipped with Nax gear), 800g and I doubt it will last me 2 levels! So much for that idea.

Doubt there is much of a "free gold" route to exploit. You have to work for it.
Granted, imo, Blizzard somewhat gives little to nothing regarding the emphasize on how to get things done without you ending up in that dilemma you have right now.

heh, I`d almost say Blizz frakked your cash-playstyle ^^.

First off, post your class(es) and professions and maybe we can help you out.

You must note, though, that people will most-certainly-not give you the key answer as they tend to keep things secret. If you do have a decent dmg class, there should nothing wrong with going dual-gathering profession of some sort (or skinning/leatherworking).

oh yeah. farm cloth. Nothing easier than that actually.

I'm familar with skinning and LW. Scraps don't do much for me.

I'm always looking for crafted items that sell.

The market is already saturated with most of the new pvp and epic gear.

Pristine hides still sell pretty well and hides are abundent in Tol Barad - crocks and spiders are part of the daileys and there is always a supply of skins available.

Mammoth mining bags sell pretty well and skins for those are in ICC and pretty easy to get.

The leg armors sell OK and again, mats are pretty easily skinned.

Farming mats is boring and takes time but you can make as much as 1k gold an hour if you try. If you get lucky you might even get a world drop, a JC pattern etc, that can be worth 20k or more.

It seems many people do put raw materials up on AH and they do charge a fortune. I mean, I can collect a stack of heavy hides in 20 minutes or less and people try to sell them for 400+ gold which I think is way to high. I'll put them up for 200g and some times they sell befor I can walk out the AH.

Since getting into heroics usually takes me 30 minutes or so, I find this is a good time to farm mats while I wait. It beats listing to trade chat.

Main is 85 Priest with Herb/Alchemy... I can farm mats, but as mentioned, boring as hell! Not sure the best places to farm either - Deepholm seems to have good supplies, but have not really investigated what I should be looking for. Alchy has some value from transmutes, but I haven't really been trying to sell them.

2nd toon is an 80 War with Mining/JC... haven't maxed either yet

3rd toon is 71 Lock and has enchanting to around 450 I think...

I also have a Herby/Inscriber on my old account (80 Prot Pally), I recently closed the account but subs don't run out till end of March so I could use. Insc around 430 I think. I never found much money in it... even though the glyphs appear to be fortunes on AH, they never sell and it is a PITA to keep relisting them. Plus I hate gouging people for ridiculous amounts when most recipes cost cookies to make.

Doomwalker in Shadowmoon Valley will spawn 1-3 times a week. He drops about 600g and two BoE epics. Park an alt there in front of the BT entrance and log in to check every once in a while.

Never buy gear from the AH. The LFG tool has pretty much made that pointless. In fact you probably shouldn't buy anything from the AH. Create a low level mule and park him/her at a mailbox. And send all you cash everyday to the mule, that way you wont nickle and dime yourself out of cash.
