A whole week without posts? Unacceptable.

In that case, what is everyone currently reading? We need some discussions...

Recently finished the Mistborn series, as well as In the Name of the Wind. Currently reading book one of Drizzt, and I know Yoss loves that series.

I've been reading Brent Weeks' Night Angel trilogy. However, it is so suspenseful that I can't read the books back to back because I can't take the emotional stress.

I started reading Cassandra Claire's Mortal Instruments trilogy yesterday. I read Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter book 3 in between the first two Weeks books. Hopefully Night Angel 3 and the Mortal Instruments trilogy will last me until the 22nd.

There are tons of must read releases coming in the next month.

Pale Demon - Kim Harrison - February 22nd
This Side of the Grave - Jeaniene Frost - February 22nd
River Marked - Patricia Briggs - March 1st
The Crippled God - Steven Erikson - March 1st
Wise Man's Fear - Patrick Rothfuss - March 1st

P.S. Put those damn Drizzit books down and walk away. If you insist on reading them at least have the sense to stop reading after the Artemis books, after that the series is so bad it is derivative of itself.

Jarom, I really enjoyed it. It was an easy quick read, but had enough depth to make me actually care about the characters. The first book is a lot of setup. We see how the main character becomes an apprentice ranger. I'm looking forward to a little bit more happening in the next several books.

There are like ten books in the series, he can't be a very good ranger if he is still an apprentice.

I checked on the Nook today and most of the books in the series were $6.99-$9.99 I think. I'll buy the first few used on Amazon and then check the rest from the library.

Man i hated clare's mortal instruments. Had a lot of potential but last bit she just changed the story so she could could write more.

I just finised way of the kings and enjoyed it. There were only a few parts where i skimmed but only brcause it was to flowery. Characters were all well done and i eventually began to like Shallan. Surprised me. What i love about Brandon Sanderson are his magic systems and the sense of mystery and wonderment in his stories. Always makes me want to read more and at tbe point it gets explaineds its an oooooo moment.

Also finished rereading mistborn first book and enjoyed it. Just started to read The Passage and liking it a lot. Looking forward to Wise Man's Fears but dreading the wait for the next book.

I liked the series but I kind of thought it was lacking in depth. More like it was quickly written but glossed over details. again I liked the series but i felt it could have been much more.

I just finished reading Name of the Wind, and started reading Game of throne series.

Currently reading the 3rd book in the Jane Yellowrock series. Mercy Blade. She's a shapeshifter (not a were, though there are weres in the book) who hunts Rogue Vamps. I've enjoyed the series so far, and I'm about halfway through this book and enjoying it as well. happy

Have you read Faith Hunters Rogue Mage series? I read that one and while I didn't dislike it I wasn't a huge fan, I thought her prose was a little dense and convoluted.

I've been looking at the Jane Yellowrock books but I'm not quite convinced I want to read another of her series.

See, that is exactly why I liked it. He didn't dwell on crap forever like every other epic fantasy author. The antagonist didn't sit around for 17 books moving in the shadows. He introduced a bad guy and he kicked his ass, next book. The main reason I found it suspenseful was because Weeks gave me resolutions within one book so I know it was all coming up soon, not twenty years later in book ten.

I, in my stupidity, bought Gauntlegrym not long ago.

I shouldn't have bothered. I love the Dark Elf trilogy, and I'm fond of the Icewind Dale trilogy. Everything Drizzt after that becomes a bit.. rediciolous.

I think Artemis entreri was a fun character, but Salvatore took the whole "He's the opposite of me, so I hate him" thing a bit too long.

Salvatore is a hack. He took the concept of a foil character and handed us a textbook example with all the grace of a textbook author.

I don't see this at all. It appears to me that it was scripted as a trilogy and it played out as such. Each book is essentially one part of a three act play. The plot reveals are set up from book one and play out throughout the series to the very end in a very methodical manor. I think you are mistaking something.

Spoiler

I didnt like how in the end the two characters ended up being brother and sister. It completely threw me off and thats why it seemed to me that it was just making so she could extend the story a bit further.

End spoiler

Did you only read the first book? If so you should read further, that is a huge part of their character development through the series and that is not the final word on the issue.
