Subject: Beta Make It! release
A new version of Make It! is now available for Beta testing.


Major Changes:
  • Adds capability to use storage chest for ingredients and final products
  • Uses Virindi Views (if installed) for display. VVS is a better display system than classic Decal which can provide much better performance.
  • Completely rewritten in C# to make maintaining it easier in the future.
  • Skillbuilding has been removed, the facility hub is much better than skillbuilding ever was.
  • Much easier updating of recipe files. Basically Chef Wubbies latest file will always be one button press away.

Known issues:
  • Some issues stacking in a chest, currently stacks to 51 before starting a new stack

Having an issue with installation I think.... I am using the newest decal beta 2964. After installing this new version of makeit! my client crashes upon hitting the login button at character selection. And when I try to turn makeit! off in decal, it wont let me uncheck the box or delete it. I deleted the old make it from decal using the delete button there, should I have left it?

Nevermind. It's a problem with the decal beta I think. I uninstalled makeit with the installer and it worked, turned off all plugins, still crashes with decal on.

MakeIt is still behaiving oddly in the decal configuration. It won't let me uncheck the box, this is after uninstalling both decal and makeit and reinstalling.

It shows up like this in the export, which seems odd? All zeros?

This beta one is a Decal.Adapter plugin, so it doesn't actually need a GUID. It may be that Gouru didn't assign it a real one in the registry.

Sort It! is a C++ plugin and should show something other than 0s. You may need to reinstall it if it doesn't work.

the 0's were intended I believe.
I've had the beta longer than anyone else (well except Gouru).

I've had some problems with the Decal betas, and stepped out of testing them so unsure of any problems there.
With my limited playtime these days, just not enough hours in the day to try.


Has no one else downloaded and played with the MakeIt! beta?
was hoping to get any bugs worked out and work towards a full release.
The new features are amazing.

I downloaded it yesterday. I'm not using a decal beta. It seemed to work great for me, all I was using it for was to craft deadly blunt arrowheads. There was one point where it stopped working, and I didn't catch a message saying why it stopped. All other times, it would show a message why it stopped so I would buy the missing component. Once purchased I could resume just fine. Logged out and back in, and it picked right up.

@Gouru - I had someone PM me with a couple of issues and I've sourced one problem still looking into the other issue.

Chorizite Dispell potions
It makes the first oil and then keeps trying to use that oil on itself instead of creating a 2nd oil to use.
Not sure what changed in the code, it works as expected in the old version.
I think this might be the only combine in the game where it uses the end product on the end product to get something new.
Tried producing a stack of chorizite oils for it to play with, and it still repeated the same can not use it on itself error.
One of those odd items I rarely produce so I never noticed it.

Does MakeIt allow you to set it up so that you can make one product after another, without telling it each time to make a new product?

Say I want to make a stack of each arrowhead type. Currently I tell it to make deadly blunts, then when it finishes, I tell it to make deadly armor pierce. Can I set it up so that it creates a list of items to make, and then does them in the order I ask automatically?

I been playing with it, so far, I really like what I've seen.

As already pointed out, the Chorizite dispells are broke, an stacking seems to be a real hit or miss.

Very often when I try to make anything in large amounts and have it stack at say 10, it will make that many and then just stop, it will not stack up the items made even when it makes 10. The few times it has continued to make more than 10, it will not stack properly ever, it won't stack into a house chest properly or my characters bags.

Aside from those 2 issues, I have not discovered anything else.. I will keep trying.

Btw, I played with the recipe make file in the chorizite sections and could not come up with any solution for the problem, I noticed the - before several of the names and would guess that this was the way to deal with this problem initially, maybe this is part of the key to resolving what is broke.

I kinda miss the ability to add recipes, but after going thru the recipe list, it really seems there's not anything missing.. I wonder if this is gonna be very future proof though. I suppose we will always be able to edit the recipe file.

@ VN_Lull_Abye - For the recipe portion - it is as future proof as I can make it. (hey thats punny)
The Beta recipe file is version 1 of the new format but it is literally (almost) the same as the last version I released for the original MakeIt! (version 4 something.) The other major change in the Beta was updating the file would be just a button press rather than me uploading to different cyberlockers and trying to make sure people had the newest ones.

@Beltzer_WE - Not in its current format. Many of the things people want to see in MakeIt! are things that are not often brought up by the end users. If more people step up and share their wishlist it might happen. Currently I do not think that Gouru is looking for new features to add until we can find and stomp the current bugs in the beta. But if the users really want something, they need to speak up.

The Chorizite issue was a blindside to me mostly because on TD the potions are not in high demand so I didn't make them in the Beta testing I was doing before the public Beta.

I know I had still missed several of the XP crafting items for the scattered NPCs and after completing the Level 8 spells I had little interest in figuring out what else was missing currently, my insanity does have limits and Wubbie needed a break from pluging things into MakeIt!

Every interaction in the base file was verified by me, and the newer items were all added 1 step at a time in game as I produced each item at least once with the old version.
I am hoping that people running the beta will find anything else that is broken, from the items they need every day and checking other sections as well.
It would be nice to know what is missing/broken/sporked without me having to walk the entire file again from top to bottom.

Is there any plan to update Find It! as well? I'm looking to ditch Alinco entirely, and Find It! seems like the only other plugin that finds monsters/trophies and does loot detection in chests and on tradebots.

Right now I get a pretty serious crash-to-desktop running it with the new Decal beta. I posted an export in the other thread.

I've just been using the old version of Make It, since I craft condensed dispel potions fairly frequently. Sad, because Decal Views performance is absolutely horrible, but I don't use Make It but a few times a week, so it's tolerable for me.

Another thing that would be great is if Make It could automagically add and remove keys from keyrings. I've tried to do this by creating my own recipe, but for some reason it doesn't work properly. Obviously, what I want to add/remove most often is MFKs.
