Great lens, but not well-suited to my needs at this time. It'll be sad parting with it after a few short months...

I have the 70-200L, would love a 24-70 to complement. Wish I had the cash.

Currently in the MMO unemployment line.
Can I get $15/month for not playing them?

I use the 24-70 f2.8 just slightly less than my most commonly used lens, my 70-200 f2.8 IS.

I find it ridiculously handy as a walk-around travel lens / newspaper photojournalism lens / backup body wedding lens for ambient shots.

It's an awesome lens, but so much of my photography tends to be travelling and free hand shooting in dim-light. With neither a full-frame camera or the intention to get one in the next few years, I think the Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens is a better fit since it has the IS and much lighter weight. In the future, if I make the jump to a full-frame camera, I'll be ready to invest in a full set of L series lenses and can use the EF-S and my current camera as a back-up or travel camera...

good idea.

I swing a spare 5dmkII without a battery grip on it as my travel camera when I'm off work. Since 99% of the time Im working on sports stuff, using 1d series bodies, its nice to get away from it and use a full frame grin
