Nevermind. Picked it up today since I happened to be driving by an EB Games.

Didn't get a Trial key though. Was told they came with them.

If anyone has a trial code, please PM me.

Since there is very little press on this launch, which could be good or bad, I'd like to see it first, if possible.

You are missing nothing. It will entertain you for about a day. I didn't notice any difference between DC and COH other than a bit of graphics and interface tweaks.

no difference? The combat is completely different!  Travel powers level 1, that are very cool and different. happy I enjoyed DCUO for about a week, then it got overly repetitive.  It looks nice and the combat is fast and engaging (to me at least), took a little while to get used to have very few hotkeys, as most of your combat is going to be done with combinations of mouse clicks.

It's CoH reskinned. The way the combat is done is hardly innovating or 'worth playing' a game for.

That's unfortunate, this is one of the games that I was REALLY hoping would have good execution. Boo.

I don't recall saying "worth playing" anywhere at all in my post.  Matter of fact, i state that it is overly repetitive and I got bored very quick.I was just stating that the combat *IS* different.

I didnt say you said it either did i? I marked worth playing to add emphasis to the phrase.. maybe I should have italicized it instead. I said that because of the way you wrote it, it seemed like you were saying the combat system is what made it worth playing even though it was repetitive. Maybe you were dripping sarcasm with the statement, I don't know. it is the internet after all.

I can say I don't like it all that much.

The character creation put me off right away. Not enough options for a game that should have some of the most options available in any game, ever.

I really like the gear/looks system. You can lock your outfit to what you made it as in creation process. Or you can unlock new looking item pieces by finding/equipping them. So you can wear any piece of armor/weapon and have it look like anything else you have found previously. This is something all games should do/be doing.

Find the combat somewhat boring. Feels like a button masther(friend plays on a controller and says it's much better than keyboard/mouse combo), some of the moves/styles are annoying to pull off with your mouse. I find myself clicking, a tonne. Feels like I'm playing Diablo 1 or something.

We are playing on a PvP realm. I made a Villian on my own to start, and there's a retarded amount of them. Then we made a couple Hero's to group and play together. Wow, annoying. There's villians EVERYWHERE, and most of them much higher level than any heroes. We started a couple fights with higher level players, just to be either demolished fairly easily, or have 10 more villians swoop in instantly.

Heard of some people getting ganked by some level 30 guy just flying around owning everyone(most players were like 5-15 at the most last night).

The questing system seems ok, can sometimes complete quests on the spot from your journal. My friend and I had a problem finding any quests to do right off the bat though. I chose Wonder Woman influence, as I made a female fire weilding/fist weapon player. Friend chose Superman I think, and we couldn't get the same quests lines. Was pretty disappointing.

I'm gonna play it a bit more over the weekend, but seriously, I don't find it overly enjoyable. Just doesn't have an MMO feel.

Its an action rpg with combos and hotkeyed skills vs just hotkeyed skills. How is it similar? Because you press buttons? lol.

If you can get your hands on a 10 day buddy pass, you can experience everything and cap out a char.

The game itself is very pretty to look at. The graphics are nice, it runs well and the story is good enough.

Beyond that is seems to pale when compared to COH/CO in many ways. The options for costumes and powers is a small fraction of the two older games. At first the game play feels fun and engaging. You soon realize though that you are spamming the same combos over and over and over again.

PVP is an unbalanced joke. Some of the shortest fights I can remember in MMO history.

Get a buddy pass, treat it like a single player game. Then play RIFT or if you want a superhero type game, CO goes f2p soon.

I'll read it, I promise. Whisperwind is very laggy today so I'm just tabbing back and forth while I wait for my quest to turn in.

Can you get to max level in WOW in a single day? Several did on DCUO.

Is the balance in WOW so bad that when you enter a pvp arena you play as another character. In DCUO you play as a premade character. In open world pvp (on your own char) a fight lasts about five to ten seconds. In terms of fun factor and playability WOW's PVP is eons ahead of DCUO, which is damn scary and not saying much. It reminds me of some old games with pvp, where people spam one or two overpowered moves over and over and over and do literally nothing else.

I can't say as I wouldn't be stupid enough to play so long to lvl to max lvl in any game in 1 day.I am sure there is some fool crazy euro who could lvl to max lvl in WoW in a day.Cannot compare a game that has had 6+ years to a game not even 1 week released content wise.SOE like them or not are the best mmog company when it comes to adding new content to there mmogs.Compare Eq2 and WoW and most will agree EQ2 has buried WoW I would venture to say Eq2's free content over the past 6 years is more than all of WoWs paid expansions combined.

I am sure they will add tons of content and not take 2 years to do it.Far as the pvp I really don't care I would rather have them not balancing there game for pvp.

I do not own DCOU but did beta test it.If I wanted a casual action mmog to play when I was bored or on ps3 I would buy it and i may very well buy it at some point.

It takes 12-16 hours to hit cap in DCUO, but even more so than WoW you do A LOT more at end-game than you will leveling. You don't even max out your skill points right at cap. You get them via feats (aka achievements). The game is a true MMO, in every regard. If you found combat boring, maybe you should try other weapon-types. You won't be mashing the same combo over and over unless you're terrible at the game.

That's disappointing. Making costumes and choosing abilities was one of the best parts of CoH. And it's sad they went with the single-player quest design. I actually enjoyed grouping in CoH and thought they had a great grouping system.
