To be fair, I'm making a blanket statement based on totally anecdotal evidence in a small (say, 20-25) heroic runs in a group that works well together, but when the group has a majority of 346 gear and knows what they're doing, I haven't seen many pulls that even need it anymore. *shrug* YMMV.

And antithesis to the fun time framework Blizzard built up prior. Forcing the majority population (casuals) to dump even more time into the game fostering strong virtual friendships to advance at a reasonable pace, and further feel rewarded? Ghostcrawler really screwed the pooch here.

Hardly. Tank with full 346 and a healer that knows how to spam heals without running OOM pretty much negates all need for CC, and not a "group that works well together" just need not-retarded people. Shocking I know.

You seem to indicate that the only requirement for a healer is to know which spells to cast in order to avoid going OOM. This is not the case. The healer has to be geared too, ESPECIALLY if they are casting the "right" heals. Tank with full 346 that thinks he's a badass and doesn't need CC will still wipe the group on many pulls regardless of what the healer does. Shocking, I know.

Obviously gear helps, but knowing when to cast what helps more.

I was in my first pug to aoe most of a heroic yesterday, though it was the easy one Vortex Pinnacle and we CC'd one mob on the double adept pulls. But considering it was a pug, and already... Yea, CC isn't gonna last.

VP doesn't count. With mostly elementals (at least during the 1st half), they tuned it to be the least CC reliant. If you're just AE spamming through the 2nd half, then I'm impressed (edit: I need to spend 3 seconds reading... CCing one adept is still CC, especially if your dps were doing a good job of interrupts on the other casters).
