I needed 16 bars for two gem quests I found. I hit a zone I like to use with my gatherer. (Miner/Herb Druid) I flew to the first ore on my screen but found a guy already there. He was in what looked like a hard fight. I was ready to move on when I saw him heal himself. That is normally not a good sign. I also saw two groups of four wandering towards him.

I quickly flew down and attacked his target's back in cat form. Sure enough the two groups of four got near enough to get into the fight. I clicked bear and yelled to grabbed aggro. His target died. I expected us to finish off the mobs and move on to finding ore.

Much to my disbelief he used my grabbing aggro to mine the ore, climb on his bird and fly away; leaving me to fight off eight hard hitting monsters alone. It took a bit but I lived. If I was lacking a single cool down it would have been a different story.

Years ago this would have ruined my day. I've learned that there are immature people playing the game and farming ore or plants can bring out the worst in people. Letting it upset me would not make it better. I laughed it off. Of course that just might just be the Prozac talking.

I think most of us are used to this kind of behavior now. For example, the daily cooking quest yesterday was the Canal crabs in Stormwind.

After I jumped into the canal, I saw another player attempt to get one of the crabs. So, I decided against it and went for another.

This player, after she got the first crab, jumped on her flying mount, landing on top of me, and grabbed the crab just as I clicked it myself.

You just shrug it off and move on. Completed the quest in five minutes, regardless of the rude behavior, and noted to never play with that player if I should ever encounter her again.

Don't need a similiar situation with loot.

I try and do this in most circumstances, but many times it makes your head hurt! The stupid/idiot/arrogant/asshats of the game should be held accountable. Oh well, lol.

People have been incredibly rude in Nordrassil.

Now, in this case, devil's advocate, that player didn't ask for your help. You chose to aggro them. They may have thought you wanted to fight those mobs, since that's the 'normal' behavior now. Basically, the selfish move is the norm, so they may not have assumed you were actually helping?

What race and class was this player?

That's always how gathering nodes has been. People will do whatever they can to take nodes. Paladins used to BoP people mining nodes and steal them. It's just how it is, you get over it or ragequit life.

It would have been very easy to just fly down and grab the ore for myself. I have had that done to me many times. It is just not me. I'll always help when I can. I cannot and will not try to force others to act as I would. I can only provide an example for others. Someday, when he matures, he might understand that example and do things differently.

My reason for posting this is not to vent. I had no need to vent. Things like this just go over my back these days. My intent is to get others to understand that there will always be immature people like this around; and not to let it spoil your day.

How does calling others immature, make you mature....oh yeah, it doesn't.

The problem is these types don't "mature". They just continue to be jag offs.

I've seen this before, and it still irks me. I always take a few minutes to try and figure out what makes these people behave the way they do, and I can never figure it out. Just being an ass for the sake of being an ass is how it goes, I guess. The only thing I can control is whether I bow to that and start doing it to other people, but I never will. I'm too nice, I guess.

I only grief the opposing faction like this. I go out of my way to help any other player that is of my faction, even to my own detriment on occasion (such as what happened to the OP). But if I see, lets say a member of the horde when I'm on my human paladin, and there is an opportunity for griefing or ganking - I'll do it, 100% of the time. An irresistible impulse to act.

Man that sucks. My rule of thumb is that if a person is near ore/herb and are fighting, I move to an unoccupied one. I've met some that try to ninja it from me, but most will usually leave if they see you clearly getting rid of a mob to get to the ore. But I haven't used any toons yet that can gather ore/herbs in the new lands just yet (my mage, and she's a tailor/enchant).

On a related note, I find it interesting that aggro mobs will go nuts if you so much as touch the ore while they're nearby, but they largely leave you alone if you're picking herbs... thinking
