Lots of interesting projects and tools ..

Got a question for you. Do you remember the damage analyzer in LifeTank? (It was one of the HUDs, DOT display I believe.)

Leaving it running for a while help in both direction. It told you what you might need more for protection (like being hammered more with lightening for example). And it help with info on damage we did to the critter.

Is this something for a new utility? A damage recorder?
Just curious ...

Thank you!

These are great, and sellvage just saved me loads of time, boring time in game at that. Can't wait to look through the others also.

Really appreciate the work on these!

It seems that there is a compatibility issue with some of the plugins I built after installing the beta for next decal.
If you are still running the regular release (2.9.6.0) and any of my plugins is not showing up ingame, please be patient, I will make new releases that should work with both 2.9.6.0 and 2.9.6.1 and announce them on this thread.

(Also, check back here sometime if you are interested in the damage tracking mentioned above, I am almost done with it.)

All plugins on http://ac.ranta.info/DecalDev should work with 2.9.6.0 again. If after installing the latest version linked from there you still don't see the plugin ingame, please let me know.

I thought it might be me being dual logged, and a few other things... but I can't get it to ever see the Comp exhanger...
It sees the rare exchanger when I ran out to one to try

RoogonII: Check http://ac.ranta.info/DecalDev - there is something on there now that you might like.

Also, just for reference: I am aware that Sellvage currently fails to buy MMDs at any mage vendor. This is due to a problem in WorldFilter and hopefully will be fixed there soon. It works fine at other vendor types.

I am guessing we "check" the items we want to keep and everything else is fair game correct?

Just the other way round. You check what you want to gamble and everything else will be kept. (Reason I am doing it is simple: if they add new comps/rares and you get one from the exchanger, it will be safe. You can still manually exchange it if you don't want it, but if it was automatically given away, there was no way for you to get it back.)

If I ever get my trade char flagged for Bur (and get the recall - I hate running to places just to restock), I will probably do that. Unfortunately I have never been able to finish Saving Asheron even on my not-so-gimped chars, so doing it on a staffer in all studded leather and with trained melee only will be difficult.

Flagging for bur is easy, getting the recall is not so easy, as you mentioned you have to complete SA in order to get to the easier than SA recall quest.
I know on FF we have server wide runs of it on occasion but that doesn't help since you don't play FF......
I'd offer to help but I have no toons that COULD help anyplace other than FF.

Wowsers, I've been taken on Saving Asheron a few times. And they even held my hand to get the recall scroll. Most of the time when I need something new for tradeskilling, I can scare up a few people to help me out. But then TD loves me, well most of the time. happy I'm not the normal tradeskiller, its my main... 268th level, 3 school, staffer, spec melee. I stand in MP and sell mushrooms inbetween running around hunting. Maybe if you cut them a special deal on some mushrooms you could get some bodyguards to get you all the way thru SA and Bur recall.

Mushroom purchasing is best done on a character with huge strength.
I'm Max STR, all 5 burden augs, and I rub a demios statue before I go.
You have to trade D's or MMD's to 1 NPC to get whole mushrooms. (you can get bulk ginger for a different note)
Then take 5 steps to his brother who cuts them into the 3 pieces. (cap, stalk, spores)
Each and every whole mushroom you hand him triggers a click box asking if you have 3 spaces in your pack.
And you have to click yes, each and every time, over and over and over and over....
Did I mention I trade in 100 MMDs at a time?
VI and others have confirmed some odd lag properties to Bur, which is why my "tinkering" of Fortune Hunter to semiautomate this runs into problems.

I have? I think it was just a combination of the dungeon sizes and the monster count which was causing me a lot of lag going through the dungeons...I'm not sure how that affects turnins in the town.

You did. happy Otherwise I wouldn't say it.
We never solved why, but you confirmed it was laggy there.
This was a while ago when I was trying to solve why Fortune Hunter was choking all the time doing my handins.
You suggested your handin tool, but I was concerned about it handling stacking and such.

Hey Lino. I did a bunch of rare exchanges and noticed that it was turning in rares that it should have been keeping. It also wasn't turning in rares that it should have. It was random though, so not sure what was going on. I logged in and out and ran it again and was doing the same thing.

I'll put up an export tomorrow, but everything I have is up to date.

Ball-Cruncher: That seems to be almost impossible given how the plugin works* (unless WF provided it with wrong/stale information). Do you remember what rares (names) it handed in that it should not have handed? Did you have any other plugins active that auto-stack, auto-sort etc? And are you sure you configured it the right way around? (You select what the rares you want to exchange, not the ones you want to keep)

*: See http://svn.ranta.info/websvn/filedetails.php?repname=decaldev&path=%2Ftrunk%2FStuffExchanger%2FStuffExchanger%2FexchangeRares.cs&rev=0&sc= 0

I've learned the hard way never to use the word 'impossible' to describe reported behavior grin

It does sound like maybe the exchange checkboxes were done by the user backwards, though, since I personally find that unintuitive.

Looking around the code, it would seem to be unlikely to be bugged, though.

I will add some instructions in the next version to make it clear. If anyone wants to built a version that works "the other way round", the sources are available (just give it a new name and icon if you release it, please). Explicitly selecting what should be handed in just seems better to me because any completely new items are safe by default.

I thought that was as well, which is why I had asked about it when I was using the comp exchanger.
-lino-'s explanation of trying to make sure it stayed future proof, cleared it up for me.
I successfully got all of the pieces I needed to finish my tinkerers level 8s the other day with it.
YAY me! happy

I think if -lino- moved the about tab to the 1st tab position and just added, click the ones you want to trade away, it would cover the bases completely. I know I've had a few people miss the instructions in the text file in the recipe releases that tell them how to load it. But once I show them the line ingame they get it.

I had it set up correctly. And nothing running that auto stacked. Can't remember the ones it was doing it with.

Would increasing the speed of the turn ins affect the plugin any? I sped it up as it was kinda slow for my tastes.

I'll do another run with 15-20 rares and see what happens and let ya know.

How did you increase the speed? Are you sure you were using StuffExchanger and not RareExchanger (by paraduck)?
StuffExchanger has no setting for speed, not even in the settings file. (And during all my tests it handed in 3-4 rares/comps per second, which is certainly not slow.)

Hmm. May be thinking of the speed thing wrong. I tried both urs and Paraducks plugin. But im positive it was urs that I had the issue with. Going now to turn in some more rares. I'll report back in about 30 mins.

Ok. Here's what I figured out. I went to the exchanger with 15 rares and 500 mmds. The only plugin running was the exchanger.

I had it set to keep only a few rares and exchange all the rest. I was keeping strength/armor tink/focus rares. All others were exchanged. I saw 2 of the focus rares get handed back and 1 strength rare.

I'm thinking that maybe because of the speed that it hands them in, any kind of lag/packet loss issues may cause it to mis-read or just not read at all, the rare that is handed to the character. This is just speculation since I don't know the inner workings of the plugin.

If you need me to try/test anything else for you, just let me know. I'll be happy to help.

But it kept all armor tink rares and some strength and focus rares? The strength and focus rares it handed, did you happen to see if those were rares it just received (iow: did it hand them from the first slot of the mainpack)?

I went over my code again and the only way I can see this happening is under the following conditions:
- rare A is a rare that should be handed and has guid X
- Character hands in MMDs, rare A, the next batch of MMDs, receives new rare B which should be kept and has guid X again
- The "destroy item" message for rare A did not reach the client until this point OR WF for some reason did not handle it properly*

I am in no way an expert on AC protocol or inner workings of WF, but from what I know about it this seems the most plausible way. Maybe Virindi or hazridi can shed some light on this?

If I am right about what is happening, I think I can reduce the likelihood of this happening a good deal without sacrificing speed noticeably.

Oh and just out of curiosity: Do you happen to know how long it took the plugin to "burn" through those 500MMDs? happy

lino

*: Just guessing here, but if guid X exists in WF, the "destroy item" message gets lost (or simply lags behind) and there is a "create item" message for guid X, I assume WF does not overwrite the existing object (or at least not right away?).

If one object is created, and before a destroy notification is sent for it a new create arrives for the same GUID, Adapter's WF wrapper will continue to return the data from the first create. If a delete happens on the first object before the creation of the second object, the second create data will be returned.

I have never had this problem or seen anything to indicate that a GUID had been duplicated (other than this and the discussion about your loot data). But, it's certainly possible.

If this is what is happening, it should be easy enough to detect for logging by manually watching the protocol messages.

I have also reviewed COM worldfilter and vtank's dedicated world object tracker and both should rewrite the original data in the above situation. So, another method of testing would be to either use WF interops, or vtank with uTank2.PluginCore.FWorldTracker_GetWithID(int gameid) (PluginCore instance is uTank2.PluginCore.PC)

Yes, they were always in the first pack slot.

And it took about 1 minute to burn 380ish mmds. angry

It was done at that point.

Thanks for the explanation Virindi. I guess due to the high speed at which objects are created and destroyed, the chance of some messages arriving in wrong order is higher than usual. I will figure out a way around this problem without "artificially" slowing down the plugin.

Ball-Cruncher: I hope that angry smiley is aimed at Turbine for making it so costly to exchange rares and not at StuffExchanger for saving you a lot of time wink

Not at you. I like anything that saves me time and hassle.

Thanks for taking a look at this. I try not to bring anything up unless i'm certain there's a problem. I know you guys have better stuff to do than chase "ghosts in the machine".

A few months ago I noticed something unusual in that IDs where being
reused more frequently. I've seen (from logs) where
an ID was destroy and fraction of a second later the next generated ID was the same.

So its imperative that plug code removes any persistent storage of
that ID when destroy is received.

It is also important to not to go to fast as you need allow for packets
to settle down so worldfilter will be statefully correct at the time your code is using it.

Now that I look at it further, I am not sure at all what is going on. It seems that it should actually work and overwrite the original data even when looking at the adapter wrapped WF objects.

Perhaps something else is responsible for this problem?

It seems that more logging is in order.

Give me a few days to save up 20ish rares and i'll do another run.

Is there any way I can create a log as I run the plugin?

I am still traveling, but I can add some debug logging code once I am back (Thursday or Friday). I will let you know once it is ready for download.

Ok, I have a new version that a) has some additional logging, b) handles certain events differently and c) uses a different method to select the next rare to hand. I ran some tests with it and it seems to not hand wrong rares anymore while being practically as fast as 1.0.2
As I made changes to the code for the Component Exchanger as well and haven't tested those changes yet, consider this a pre-release: http://ac.ranta.info/installer/StuffExchanger-1.0.3.msi
If anyone wants to help me verify the correct behavior of this version, please type in "/sx loglevel 4" before you start an exchange to turn on logging. (The setting that controls the logging does not get saved, so if you log out and do another exchange, you have to type the command again if you want logging to be on.)

Just tried your new version of rare exchanger. I exchanged 15 rares - looks like it worked perfectly.

Unfortunately AcPowerSaver 1.0.2 was broken - if you installed it, I strongly advise you to go to my page again and download and install 1.0.3

I now crash using Scrollreader 1.7.1.0, I had previously used it successfully before Turbines special logging and later server tweaks, I can buy 1 or 2 scrolls before I get the 'ac has stopped working window do you want to check online for solutions or close the window' pop-up. I was buying scrolls at the Life Magic Scrivener when this happened as this toon already has the relevant war, item and creature spells. On the 4th attempt I learned the few spells I had gotten before the crash using the 'learn tab' and it's learn button, I was unable to use the buy button until I relogged.

Export follows.
