Let's talk headsets. What do you use? Do you like it? I'm in the market for something new.

I blew up the capacitors on my video card. So went and got a new cideo card. I noticed headsets on the way out. At first I was just thinking "Ah! New headphones!" but then I realized how handy a headset would be and my mic would stop being in the way on my desk.

So, I do not have a headset. I can't find one that meets my requirements.

Small, like child size
Lightweight
Cord on one side only
Goes over head, not behind ears
Foam ears, not the padded things

Most headsets are too big, too heavy and give me head aches.

I'm currently using little child's headphones from Sony. They'er pink. grin I almost gott he Hello Kitty spill proof keyboard too. Saw that on my way out but I didn't want to give up my gmaing keyboard. Anyone know of a Hello Kitty spill poof gaming keyboard?

Right now i use the Plantronics Gamecom 777 5.1 surround sound set. Comfy, sound awesome. Been having some issues with vent that i think are related to the headset. The cord is way, way too short. If i dont get them for X-mas, i will be buying the Logitech G930 wireless headset shortly after.

I use the Logitech G35. Recommended.

Mine is a couple of years old and Logitech has since upgraded it to a G930. Apparently the same acoustics and mic, just now done wirelessly.

Pricey, but if you play a lot, worth it.

I picked up the Creative Fatal1ty headset with built-in removable mic. They are quite comfortable, but they aren't USB, they actually have the plugs. They sound pretty darn good, but they are the padded over-the-ear style vs. just foam pads. I like them.

You need a headset that goes for at least $300 or you'll fail at WoW.

personally i like to use a mono usb headset mic combo, and then let the game sounds play through the regular speakers.

i change the settings so only voice comes thru the headset.

i use a plantronics supra headset with a da40 usb adapter, very light and professional quality voice fidelity.

I have a Zalman 5.1 surround headset, was great to watch bluray movies at night before I moved my office to a separate building and can tune it up full volume without any worry about family or neighbors. Those things actually work.

Yup $20 Logitech from Walmart. As long as it works I don't need anything fancy.

I have had my eye on gaming mice lately though. As a clicker, I'd really like more buttons to bind.

I just bought a Razer Naga mouse and a Razer Nostromo. So far it has been 2 days. Still feels like I'm playing with my feet but I'm slowly retraining my brain.

Oh...

Just ordered

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VANOFY/ref=oss_product

about 2 hours ago. It is now on the way. I have had a plantronics wired that is very nice but I am passed cords... that is so 2009.

The headset gets excellent reviews and my CO-GM just got a set. I checked them out and can report they have amazing fidelity, super comfortable, long charge, long charge cable so you can charge if need be while playing, great range so I can hotkey a push to talk on the set as well so when I walk around my house I can still talk in vent happy . Oh and of course the added fun of robot voices, etc. When I need to pull someone into, the house of face punching, vent channel to bitch them out I can now do so in style. >>>ROBOT VOICE<<< Why are you standing in fireeeeeee <bleep> <bloop> <bloop>.

I really hadn't used headsets, but a trusted tech website did a review on the new Corsair HS1 headset and praised the heck out of it. They fell over themselves with love. So I went out and bought a set.

They sounded great while watching movies, but with WOW they sounded bad for $100. I felt like I was gaming in the bathroom, it was so echo-y. I ended up returning the product and making a mental note to not trust that particular reviewer's opinion in the future.

But now I do kinda want a good pair of headphones. I did some research on the head-fi.org forums. Everyone seems to say you are better off getting headphones without the mic and buying a desktop or clip on mic (the Zalman clipon is mentioned often).

My budget is under $150. I haven't bought anything yet but so far the Audio Technica AD700 sounds like my favorite.

Audio Technica AD700

Supposedly this has better sound stage for gaming than the Sennheiser HD555.

However I'm also still looking at the Sennheiser HD555 too since so many people have these and really seem to love them.

And here is that Zalman mic people talk about.

i use a $20 logitech headset.. i can hear everyone, they can hear me... and it does't cost a lot...

or you could be like my friend 2 nights ago who started cussing on vent over the fact his $150 headset just snapped and lost a headphone... so now he's using a taped up $150 headset...

if mine break/wear out i'll go buy another one i usually gotta do it every couple of years but at $20 who cares?

i also had a nice $20 cyber acoustics headset that i wore out over 3 years and had a detachable mic which i liked but couldn't find it at any store near where i moved to so i went the logitech and am just as happy with it.

Yeah, it depends on what you are looking for. If it's just for voice chat in Vent, the $20 headset works great.

But some people want a more immersive experience, while maybe also not wanting to immerse the entire house into that experience. So a nice pair of headphones might be worth spending a bit more money on.

I use the logitech clear chat pro headset. nice and lightweight. The whole side of the right earpiece is a mic mute button, so that has become my PTT button. There is a light on the mic to tell if mute is on/off.

think I caught it on sale for 40 bux Canadian.

The creative WoW headset looks intresting, but too big for my tastes.

I've been using the Razer Megalodon's for quite some time now and I'm really happy with the sound quality and the mic quality.

Got my son a set of the Razer Carcharis', which are basically the same headset as the Megalodon's, but without the built in sound processor.
