Subject: November Patch 2010 Video (part 1) + Cinematic
Hello everyone, I am very pleased to announce that my November patch 2010 video on the event, "From Darkness, Light" is complete. I have been working non-stop since the patch was released, gathering as much information as possible, consulting with players and asking around on *every* server for help getting bits of footage that I would not possibly be able to obtain on my own. I would have had this up last night, but the 800 meg file that I tried to upload onto youtube failed at 80%... so I had to change the encoding to make the file size more reasonable at the cost of some quality. My minimum bandwidth DSL just doesn't cut it sad

I want to give a HUGE thanks to all of the players who helped me out! This video would not have been possible without the contributions of time and items by others. I realize newb salvage from starter characters isn't always enough to get people interested wink

I especially want to thank Taben, for putting up with my obsessive compulsiveness in regards to this video! He understands that being an uber geek requires dedication, hard work and persistence... and for the cupcakes that kept me going on the last days of production. Some may not realize, but these videos are really gargantuan projects! This video took about 14-15 days of full time work to put together.

IN THIS VIDEO:

-Introduction cinematic. Bael-Zharon consults with one of the most evil souls in Dereth!!
-Brief (though not complete) explanation of whats been added since my last video
-Void magic covered in its entirety, including tips for beginners (I'll annotate additional tips later!)
-Mention of Olthoi play and Luminance as being in part 2 (I will also go over misc updates, such as outdoor XP revamp, updated quests, etc etc)

So, without any further delay, here is the video for all to enjoy!

Here are some useless stats:

-The AC_NovPatch2010 folder was created on 11/2/2010

-The oldest cinematic-related file was last edited on 11/12/2010 (so, it took me about 9-10 days to make... I made it ahead of time so I wouldn't have to worry about it while making the informational part)

-It required 6 hours to render the 2 minutes of cinematic using my athlon 64 x6000 (anti-aliasing enabled, some scenes were heavy in particle count, one scene used motion blur)

-my AC_NovPatch2010 folder is 17.1 gigs in size.

-13 Coffee mugs were consumed during the creation of the cinematic (yeah, I splurged one day, shoot me)

-I asked the players of Verdantine to vote which town should be destroyed, which is what is seen in the video.

-All servers helped me with content (Darktide's contribution will come with part 2!)

-My library of video screencaptures consists of 86 files so far for this video

-Bael Zharon's head model used the teeth of a model from another project of mine

After two 800 meg upload fails (and a lot of frustration), the higher quality version finally worked! The old version will be up for a couple months before I delete it... I don't want any gaming sites to use my video and then suddenly find the link broken.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8voQQ1nTqM Be sure to set it to 480p

On the old version, I have a prominent annotation leading to this version.
