No prep needed, got my toon logged out near the flying trainer, so I can login and learn flying for old world, and then hearth to the portal to Hyjal and start leveling to 85.

I'm actually going to log out on the Alliance airship in Icecrown. I've completed 23 daily quests between there and the Tournament Grounds and plan to turn them all in for some instant XP, hearth to SW, visit the flight trainer, pick up the quest to go to Hyjal, port there and start leveling!

Came back this week after a nine month break and looking forward to enjoying Cat.

Not in too big of a rush to level. Can't decide which 80 (bear/resto druid or enhance/resto shaman) to take.

Right now enjoying tanking on my 78 warrior.

Having started at retail real excited to see the new Azeroth. Have not explored it yet or read too much about it

My wife has Monday/Tuesday off with me, so we will get our games and play a bit Tuesday morning right after servers go Live with Cata. We'll make our Worgen, hope to not go insane leveling in the starter area with so many others. Then sleep for 6 or so hours, get back up and play most of Tuesday. The rest of the week, I am off so will rotate though some of my other toons that I won't be playing with hers, train everyone's professions, flying, etc. Do dailes, head out to my secret "best mining spot ever found during Beta" and max mining while accumulating a boatload of ore. Switch to herbalists and repeat. Sell a bunch of the weeds and rocks on the AH for far more than they should go for, to all the impatient crafters who want to power their craft skill but not spend time gathering.

Somewhere along they way, decide which 1-2 toons to focus on leveling to 85. Oh, but first, go get my seahorse on everyone who can get it...

That should keep me busy until the weekend anyway.

Run Census+ an hour or two after release, and a couple times after that while loading up Auction Hall. Then roll whatever the least popular class is so I can put off getting nerfed a few weeks.

I've had this planned out since Feb wink I plan on leveling with a couple people so we compiled stuff to make the leveling go faster. It's fun to race up to max level the first time but then take your time with the rest of your alts and stuff. So everything here is based on faster leveling.

Items Needed Before
-Travelers Tundra Mammoth - for selling, restocking, carrying afk peeps ect.
-RAF Rocket - for afk peeps
-Argent Tournament Tabard - for teleportation to northrend because hearth will be changing
-Argent Pony Bridle - for squire use while out in the field

To Do Day Before Release
Day before - Complete but don't turn in these quests
# Among the Champions
# Threat From Above
# Battle Before the Citadel
# Taking Battle to the Enemy
# Random Crusader Daily
# Random Named Crusader
# DailyRandom Beasts Daily
# Random Silver Cov. Daily
# You've Really Done It This Time, Kul
# That's Abominable!
# Neutralizing the Plague
# Drag and Drop
# Not a Bug
# No Rest For The Wicked
# Slaves to Saronite
# Blood of the Chosen
# Assault by Air
# Assault by Ground
# Capture More Dispatches
# The Solution Solution
# Retest Now
# King of the Mountain
# Static Shock Troops: the Bombardment
# Vile Like Fire
# Shoot 'Em Up

-Set Hearthstone in Stormwind. Flight training is 250g and is available at the flight master.
-Clean out bank and bags. Make the most space possible in bags. No extra gear sets needed unless doing dungeons in which case use Squire to access bank.
-Log out at the Argent Tournament Ally Tent. It's an Inn. Won't give must rested but some is better than none.
-Turn in order = Argent Tournament > Skybreaker > Aldur'thar > Shadow Vault

Do's/Don'ts While Leveling
-FFA then designate a looter to loot everything so we can keep killing.
-Don't pull more mobs than we have to. It's faster to get quests done quickly so we can do more quests than it is to grind extra mobs with every quest.
-Don't be a completest. Find the earliest level you can begin a new zone and go there as soon as you can even if you haven't completed a zone yet. You can go back later.
-No leveling professions. No herbing, no mining, nada. Professions are a distraction and add lots of time in the long run. Can always go back and work on them when done leveling.
-Sell junk using TTM when traveling between quests.
-Mail greens/useful items every time we hit a town. If you have to mail stuff while we're out and about, use Squire w/Pony.
-Look at upgrades while we travel, not at the quest turn in. Just grab whatever they offer that is your proficiency and move along.

I know, I plan waaaay too much. But for me that's half the fun! I even have meals planned out for the week we're taking to play but I don't think you guys want that info lol.

Don't do to much planning or that kind of stuff, it's just a game.

- Change the race of my DK to Worgen. It's already paid for, the icon is there, I just have to click it.

- Log in near the flight trainer in Stormwind, get the skill. Head to mining, engineering, cooking, fishing, first aid and archeology trainers and train the skills too. Then head to Stormwind harbor and take the boat to Vashj'ir. My bet is still that more people will go to Hyjal first, since there's a good amount of underwater haters, so Vashj'ir will obviously have less competition for spawns. I intend to do both zones anyway, at least on my DK.

- Get some sleep, food, rest as usual, don't ruin my health for a video game, the expansion is there for at least 1.5 to 2 years, it's going nowhere.

I was given the chance to "work from home" during the week of the LK release... and uh.. didn't get much work done. I raced to 80 and was actually one of the first to 80 (I was 3rd or 4th).

It meant that when you started doing dungeons for gear, there was a very small clique of people to choose from. You ran with the same people. They all turned out to be damn good players, and progression through the dungeons was fast. We geared up VERY quick. Which meant if there was a choice for a slot when official Naxx raiding start, we went first. So you always got the best gear in Naxx ... etc, etc, etc, etc.

But the way the game is now, there's no point. Why race to have the "best" gear, when everyone... and I mean EVERYONE... will have the same gear in a week? You can argue the pros and cons to that all you want, but the bottom line is rushing now is a waste of time.

The only reason to rush highlights exactly why you SHOULND'T rush:

The only reason to rush is the one thing someone said they WEREN'T going to do, and that's stop and mine/herb/ gather. Prices are INSANE during the first 7-10 days of an expansion. You can do markups of 500-1000% (or more!) and be sure someone will pay it. So why wouldn't you bother? Because money is practically meaningless in this game. All the best gear comes from PLAYING. Dungeons drops, raids, etc etc. When was the last time you used GOLD PIECES to buying anything worth keeping???? NEVER! It's just not a part of this game.

I ordered my expansion online, it's being mailed to me, normal delivery. I don't care when it gets here. I probably won't even play the day I get it. When I do, I'll probably play for an hour then watch something on Netflix. I've learned my lesson firsthand-- rushing in Warcraft is a complete waste of time.

Whether you're talking about questing/leveling or end-game, they're both the same thing rehashed. For those that like the questing/leveling part, savor it. For many people, they enjoy end game, and the leveling process is just "more of the same," so they'd just as soon get through it as fast as possible so they can be on the cutting edge of the end-game-game.

And also, logging in to the wow vault video game forum in order to type out a post where you call other posters nerds is... sketchy at best. edit: And I just checked out your signature. You're priceless =D

Yes they do but the point is that you're stopping or going out of your way to go get a node. You get MORE xp by finishing your quests quickly and efficiently. Even if a node is 'on the way' it still requires time to dismount, grab it, remount and get going again.

My list isn't law by any means.

It's just what me a few friends plan on doing. I generally tell everyone else to play at the pace they want to and enjoy it the way they like it. My guild isn't touching raids until late January so everyone has plenty of time to enjoy themselves before buckling down into checking out the raiding scene. We're casual players, not hardcore.

Personally I LOVE questing and leveling and I'm really really good at it. I know I can get to 85 very very quickly but I can still read every quest and get all the lore and really enjoy the ride too. I assure you that my gaming experience will not be lacking at all by the way I choose to play for the next week or two. And I won't get burnt out and will still be here for the next expansion too. Everything else I take a leisurely pace. It's only the first few weeks of an expansion that I run around like a madman.

New plan. Was informed by wife that both Tuesday and Thursday I'm at kids' school for Christmas presentation thing. Saturday I'm in the city for another responsibility. I'm guessing I'll be level 80.25 by Sunday. That and I'm enjoying the Rift closed beta too much. Not in a huge rush to play WoW yet.

No plans. I don't plan for a video game ever.

I doubt I'll even log on the first couple of days and wait for the rushlagfest to subside somewhat.

I bet spooky will be logging in at 3:01AM (EST) and playing all week grin

How is this any different then planning to watch your favorite tv show's season premier or season ending? Or making plans to go to a new movie release? Or making plans to watch the Super Bowl/Stanley Cup/World Series? Or making plans to do anything that you enjoy?

because a show starts on a special time and date also the Super Bowl and the rest you have mentioned. WOW can be played every day and will not shut down next week!

Edit: if you plan your real life around a vid game which is availbale 7/24 and prolly for next 10 years, it HAS a huuuge nerd factor IMO of course wink

The release of a new expansion only happens every couple years. I'd call that a special time and date worthy of planning for. It's only new once!

Also, TV shows are available all the time too. You just need to know where to look. grin

Have never done this.

Again, if I catch it, great, if i don't, big deal.

Planning actually removes any enjoyment for me ... spontaneity makes things fun.

When then call me and countless other people nerds if it makes you feel superior. I, and millions of other players, have been waiting for this expansion for over a year now. I want to play it when it's released. Not a few weeks or months later.

As Rill already mentioned, the release of a new expansion happens every 2 years or so. The other examples I mentioned happen all the time and yet people plan huge parties and such. Why aren't you mocking and belittling them? After all, they could watch the Super Bowl/Stanley Cup/World Series whenever they wanted, even weeks later.

Bro you dont get it heh? The comparison is lacking (as much as my english does thinking ) because there is no reason to watch stuff which is already outdated a few days later. wow is not outdated one week later and you will miss nothing. again, if you plan your entire life around a vid game which can be played over and over again the next weeks HAS a nerd factor for me.

i do understand that you are excited tho.

LOL are you sick? The amount of games i played have nothing to do with the space those games have taken in my real life.

Again, planing you entire life for one week or some days around a vid game HAS a nerd factor. I dunno how you can think that i do the same when you read my SIG. Some of those games i mentioned in my SIG are out for what over 10 years? so yes, i played/tried every year a new game. i dont see a nerd factor here dude.....
