So the NFL released the names of the 26 semifinalists for the next Hall of Fame class. What do you guys think of the list?

Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Don Coryell, Roger Craig, Terrell Davis, Edward DeBartolo Jr, Dermontti Dawson, Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Marshall Faulk, Kevin Greene, Ray Guy, Charles Haley, Lester Hayes, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin, Art Model, Willie Roaf, Andre Reed, Ed Sabol (contributor), Deion Sanders, Shannon Sharpe, Paul Tagliabue, Aeneas Williams, George Young (contributer)

How do you narrow it down to only 5-7 guys? I think Deion Sanders has to be a lock. With Shannon Sharpe's numbers at the TE position, how do you keep him out? Is Marshall Faulk a lock with so many great names in there?

Terrell Davis was very good...for 3 seasons. There's no way he gets in over Bettis, Faulk, Craig, or Martin.

Kevin Greene is 3rd all time in sacks, but each year that goes by I think his chances of getting in are diminishing.

Faulk, Sanders, Sharpe, Sabol, Brown and Bettis should be in for sure.

Guy deserves to be in, as does Carter, Roaf and Coryell, and I believe Tagliabue will get in eventually.

Don't know a ton about the other names.

I agree with one exception, I don't think that Sharpe is a lock. While Sharpe was good at his position (and worthy as well) his career was cut way short. You have to go by what he did (which was a good amount - don't get me wrong), and not count in what he would have done had he not gotten hurt.

I would probably put Sanders over Sharpe but that is just a gut reaction and I would be fine with any of those choices.

Richard Dent, Charles Haley, and Cortez Kennedy are also intriguing names on the list...

Well hot damn, it's good to know that someone else think that Chris "All he does it catch the damn ball" Carter is in for sure.

Juzam, I think you've got the wrong Sharpe in mind.  Shannon Sharp the TE who played 14 seasons is on the list.  It's Sterling Sharpe the WR who's career was cut short.

And I think Cris Carter should be in the HOF, I'm just not sure the voters will pull together enough votes to bypass some of the other guys on the list.  I think only a maximum of 5 modern era nominees get in each year (+1 or 2 senior nominees).

I make the same mistake all the time, they were both really good, with the same last name, and the same starting letter to their first name. S. Sharpe, so it is easy to confuse the two.
