Subject: Very impressed with the new low level quests
I finished the Westfall and Redridge series of quests this morning and I must say they were a total blast, even having me laugh at some points.

I really enjoyed how both zones have overall arching stories that pull you through the zone and then end in a bit of an "epic ending" . For example, Redridge is really memorable, both with the "lead character" parody and the ending of it.

It will be disappointing to do Duskwood and barely have any new quests, but for the zones that were redone, I think I am in for a treat.

WoW noobs playing this game for the first time are really going to have a blast.

What do you guys think of the quality of the quests so far?

The quality has been awesome. I've done the end of Ashenvale into Stonetalon as Alliance and Western Plaguelands as Horde. Both have been quite satisfying. The story and the type of quests are very refreshing. Leveling has been a side effect from questing.

As for Duskwood quests, they were all removed from my log from my little alliance toon. I thought they only removed quests that were no longer in the game. Granted, I didn't have too many from that zone but the ones I had disappeared.

I may be wrong then, but I thought it was barely touched.

Cosmetically Duskwood was barely touched, but they revamped a good portion of the quests. Having gone Goldshire>>Westfall>>Redridge>>Duskwood myself on my new human hunter, Duskwood doesn't disappoint in the least. Currently in STV, and it's still quite good, though STV is weaker IMHO than the previous zones.

After hitting 80 on my Shaman I decided to start a new pally. I must say I am already impressed, he is just out of the starting area into Goldshire. I can already tell it is going to be a lot of fun, I am really looking forward to it.

I did Duskwood yesterday and they are all changed I believe though many were very similar, just shortened steps/different items. There are also many new ones at 2nd flight point and the camp at the road turn to STV.

Nothing special really imo but then again I skipped out of Redridge without finishing the quests because I found those pretty dull. Maybe it's just time for my next break from MMOs. tongue

I did like the use of phasing at the end of the Embalmer quest line in Duskwood, that was a bit of a surprise.

Oh and because they were all changed you can repeat them with your old characters and there is an achievement now for completing duskwood quests. On the downside that means lots of high-levels there dropping all the dire wolves/spiders/ghouls/... The critters are fewer/spaced farther but re-spawn more quickly so the low-levels can still get it done but they'll spend more time running to find a kill until the high levels move to cata after 12/7.

I really like the new quests that I have done so far on Alliance side. I am really impressed. Strangely though, the levels fly by now. I went 1-36 in about 8 hours on and off.

Thousand Needles is worth going back to do. Some of the funnest quests ever in the game. You caommand a boat, blast cannons, put out fires, deepdive with helmet and fins. Its a blast. This is what all quests need to be. Not kill mob x y times, but story, gadjets and gizmos

My husband and I just finished Dun Murough and Loch Modan and had a great time! Topped it off with a run through the Dead Mines. Cant wait to do more dungeons now! I never liked the dungeons before but this was great.

Blasted Lands has a lot of new quests for roughly L55-60 including many that give Gilneas rep, a nice bonus. They are new and refreshing, and even have a couple of new quest dynamics (resuce baby murlocs in abandoned baby crib type "vehicles" by pulling the vehicle along behind you.. via the "vehicle mount" mechanic. Nothing revolutionary, but clever use of the same mechanic and entertaining)

So far I'm working on a few characters in diff zones I enjoy it all and I'm having a blast but the closer I get to 60 I'm starting to dread going to outlands it's gonna be the same old stuff I have done like 8 times already.

The outlands flew by for me this recent character. Just hit Hellfire>Zang>Nagrand and was done in no time so I am not too worried about it.

As far as WOTLK there are zones I still have not done, but even so those quests were fairly engaging for me so I won't mind. At least the bulk of the content has changed.

Actually I love getting to 59 and being able to hit outlands content. Not for the quest grinding, which is just as awful and boring there as it is in vanilla and wotlk, but for the instances, which are for the most part quite fun.

I never leave dungeons for 59-80, except for a couple pieces of key gear in wotlk.

I am in 100% agreement that Blizzard's overhaul of low level quests is nothing short of outstanding. I quit WoW 3 years ago because stabbing pencils in my eyes was starting to sound more fun (Guild drama, #1 game killer). I am currently leveling 3 new toons and having a blast. The quest design and leveling are in perfect sync.

I came back for Lich King and LOVED the early DK quests. They were very immersive. I quit shortly after because after completing those DK lines, quests just became more of the same old school flavor. These new revamped quests have the same feeling as those early DK quest lines. I love it!

Wish they had another character slot with expansion. With one character of every class, I'd have to go to another server to play low-level content. Oh well...

The undead starting area is great then you move onto Silverpine Forest which has the best quest ever "Welcome to the Machine". It turns into a few epic quests, Johnny Awesome is my favorite new character.

I took my undead warrior, level 46, who was sitting around Orgrimmar as banker, and decided I would give some new stuff a whirl. One of the signs or something told me to go to Tanaris, so off he went.

All I can say is, it's the first time in a very long while that I have found myself playing and playing and "getting one more quest" until the late hours. Tanaris had some fun new stuff, then he was off to Felwood, and finally hit Wintersprings.

There was some funny stuff in Felwood, and some nice touches all over. One thing I really liked was that "most" quests that required some sort of collections seemed to have high drop rates.

Even something as simple as the good ole "Are we There Yeti?" quest line in Winterspring. No more scores of kills for a pristine horn - but teleported to "the Boss" you need to kill to get it. And, once you have all the parts, no more flying all over the freaking continent "scaring" people. Just scare the one person in Winterspring and you are done. Went for 46-56 in about a day.

Does make me dread ... Outlands ... and OMG ... Northrend again.

A bit OT, but I haven't gone back through the old stuff yet. I think everyone can agree that questing REALLY sucks right before the BC stuff. (Felwood/Winterspring/etc.) Are there any zones that have been redone that makes that time period less tedious? Or what is the fastest way to quest 55-58 (alliance)?

You're really becoming a broken record with this idea

It's almost like you're fascinated with yourself in that you formed an opinion that many people will disagree with

Also I just hit 70 on my troll druid a few minutes ago, still havin' a good time - I'm also looking forward to rolling alts in the future to check out the zones I missed

JJANIME you mention that there are still zones in Northrend that you have missed. I am in the same boat so it is hard for me to relate to those folks that were hear when Wrath Launched. Wrath content is still new to me I have only been through it once and I didn't even get to all the zones before I hit 80 so there is still new content there for me.

Spooky has mentioned in another thread that he has been through the content 5 or 6 times now. That is the perspective he is writing from, much different from yours and mine.

I think it will be a challenge even for me, who loves questing, to have a fresh expirience the 6th time through.

Don't flatter yourself. Everyone hears your tune, but no one is dancing.

On that note, I was impressed with the new quest lines and updates in both Westfalls and Redridge. Not so much in Darkshire, but it's all good.

Nice Rambo reference with Redridge too.

The Northrend quests are an easy source of cash once you hit 80, and if you have not done them, they are quite fun.

I somehow found myself sucked into the new Blasted Lands quest lines the past couple of days. I have to say that they are very fun. Loved seeing the new content, plus I earned several thousand points toward Exalted with Silvermoon.

If you haven't already, travel to the Tainted Forest in Blasted Lands and check out the death animation on those corrupted trees. I thought it was pretty funny. Not sure if it's anything new.

The party ends here.

All the excitement of the "new" zones is going to be the shortest lived phenomenon in this game's history.

Wait for it...

Hmm, I'm not sure, maybe. My highest level toon is a 68 mage (I quit before Wrath came out and just resubbed a few months back on a new server/realm) so I can't say. I know I got from 58-68 on my mage and visited (I think) a total of two Outland zones, so it seems plausible that I could get to 70 in two completely different Outland zones with my current toon.

Any attention at all.

Of course it's 'too easy'. A self-center child screaming at the top of his lungs, with a loaded diaper, and the arrogance to think he's right works on everyone's nerves.

Not at all.

Like I said, I don't think of you at all until you act the fool. You think I'm incorrect? You believe you add anything to any thread on these forums at all?

Hell, everyone knows I have a strong dislike for Arc.

I admit this.

But, even he adds to a discussion or even posts a thread with merit.

You?

You add nothing at all.

Would you like to review any of your previous ten posts or more to verify this?

The overall opinion on VN, offline and online, is that the boards would be a thousand times better if you were gone.

Period.

Take that as you like.

I took my DK to Greymane manor last night. Found a way to jump the ledge and get all the way up there.

Now THAT place is cool. I hope it stays an empty zone in cata so horde can visit there without having to go through NPC's.

Aredenwolfe.. you might be happier if you just passed over the posts that have "Spookysheep" as the author. We understand you are of the opinion that nobody wants to read some of the flames he posts. This weekend I leveled up a priest.
I really like the new dungeon maps.
I like all of the new FP's they've added for those who wish to use them.

I was not expecting to reroll anyone but now I'm considering it to experience each area.

I've been really pleasantly surprised with the changes.
I love the sieges going on in the Night Elf lands. The feel of Horde vs Alliance is a lot better than Space Goats vs Boy bands in TBC.

Spooky, in order to be your 'Internet Stalker', I'd have to be following you around for a while and often right?

The last time I responded to you, in any way, shape, or form, was over three years ago.

You are aware of this, correct?

In fact, a moderator, who shall remain nameless and is no longer with us, suggested I ignore you because . . . well, he wanted to ban you in a bad way.

Guess even he got fed up with some of the local drama and left.

What amuses me about this is every time someone disagrees with you guys, you all pull the 'stalker' card.

Interesting, don't you think?

But, this said, that old moderator's suggestion appears valid even after all this time.

Talk to you in another three years.

My Pally is level 25 now and I am still enjoying all the quest changes, the dungeon changes too! I mean I knew that the old world was going to be revamped, all new quests, for some reason it escaped me that this would include the classic dungeons as well. I was pleasently surprised. I know that they all havn't been changed, but the ones that have been I've enjoyed.

I guess coming from someone that has been around since classic release, it is just cool to finally see some of the story progress.

Van Cleef is dead, Hogger is in jail, ect ect.

Even the dungeons that are not revamped have had little changes that make them more polished. For example Wailing Caverns which used to be pretty much a horde only dungeon, because of the dungeon finder is now a great alliance dungeon too.

The quests are available at the start of the dungeon, and instead of having to collect all the gems for each boss and taking up inventory space, (which can be limited at that level), the quest just requires the death of the boss. When you go back to turn in the quests you start the escort quest, a quest rarely done previous to these changes.

It's definitely fun and nice - yet it's also sadly as close as we will ever come from a really dynamic world in WoW.

I'm still waiting for a MMORPG where when you e.g. killed Van Cleef and unfolded the plot, the next day, there would be something ELSE in that mine, and not just the same, respawned mobs. That game would of course not be based on what Van Cleef drops, but about discovering that time's story (which will be totally different next time you come).
Changing quest lines depending of the surroundings, roaming and migrating animals and mobs... will we see that during our life, or will it be for the next generation?

I admit that would be cool, however I think those types of dynamics belong in a single player game. What your suggesting woudl require the whole game essentially being phased to every specific character. This would also pose grouping problems, everyones quest lines would have to match up otherwise those players couldn't quest together.

"LFG Deadmines, must have killed Van Cleef, Must have killed ect, must have killed ect.."

I dunno it would be cool, but I am glad the Westfall Inn is done and the Redrige bridge.

Something they could do that I think would be cool is destructive enviroments, have world events with Raid bosses that attack major cities and then there are quests in order to rebuild damaged parts of the city. With all the new mechanics now and flying we could be riding around on drakes, defending Stormwind from a huge Drake attack, sitting in mounted guns a long the walls scorching legions of scorge.

You are rewarded for defending the city with as little destruction as possible, and further rewarded for rebuiding what was destroyed.

Then throw something even more interesting in there, a cross faction attack during said Raid? Trying to make the opposite faction fail the event and get the most destruction possible oh the possibilities.

Dude have you not figured out Spooky's game yet? Simply don't reply to his trolling and he goes away. He lives for someone to respond to his posts so he can respond with one of his 8-10 canned responses he has used for the last 6+ years. How the guy hasn't been banned yet is beyond me, but whatever.

Edit:

And the new 1-60 content is amazing, although did go by too fast. The quests were turning green before I would exit a zone and the next zone the quests would already be green.

I am looking forward to doing the 80-85 content withe several characters and then taking another character through the 1-60 content on the other continent.

Granted. That much is pretty obvious.

As far as the new low level quests, I'm doing the old elf lands now. Hope they pan out better than the dwarf ones. Human lands quests are still the most impressive as far as storyline so far.
