...How do you feel the social aspects of this game have changed since it was added? Personally, I haven't really met anyone in-game the game that i've ever seen a second time, considering most people are from other realms. Dungeon Finder killed the game socially. At least in my experience, how about you guys?

Yeah, I am not even that social and I don't run a lot of dungeons.... and it even bothered me how no one talks at all. If someone says, "Hi" no one replies! well, I do :P It's strange for sure.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*

I like it. Queues are fairly quick, and it allows me to get groups easily. If I am looking for something more social, I will find a good guild.

I like it and have made a few xserver game friends. If you play at off hours you get the same people more often. Best feature they have added in the game for me since I am not going to make a guild appointment to raid and never liked standing around spaming trade for a group.

It's the only reason I came back and played the game, I had played the game for a few weeks at a time, maybe 5-6 times since the game launched.

I can't stand to level solo by questing, why do you play a MMO to just solo??? So I dont know how you can say DF has damaged the community, because no one grouped before DF.

And for the record I leveled my pally from 15 to 80 using DF and there were a handful of times I saw the same person a few times. Not to mention that you can re q up with people that are in your random group from other realms.

DF puts you with people, but you will probably never see them again, and even in the group most of the time people don't even say a word. This is damaging the game socially, on many levels. Most of my WoW friends I met before the DF I met doing random dungeons, now I never see the same people twice let alone have a conversation with them.

This was what I was talking about. Sure you're grouping more, but most often talking less and having even less social interaction. It's more like playing solo with bots...

Join a guild. Do other stuff besides dungeons. Problem solved.

r? I freaking hate that. Most of the time no one replies so the tank just makes a judgement call (like he should have in the first place) and pulls anyways.

There's pluses and minuses to that, though. Being able to LFD while doing dailies or something else makes much more efficient use of my online time, so I'm spending less time being "social" in WoW and more time being social in RL.

Guess it all depends on which one you find more "social."

I've never found the WoW community all that social to begin with. I'm in a great guild and am social with them, as far as pugs were concerned though I rarely met anyone I pugged with a second time. At least this way the tedium of putting together a PuG is gone, not to mention waiting for everyone to actually get to the dungeon.

Love it. I do the same amount of genuinely social stuff with my actual friends and acquaintances, but I do a bunch of "not particularly social" grouping with the dungeon finder in place of time I would previously have spent doing solo stuff.

Great addition for leveling and getting loot.

Bad addition in terms of socializing.

Some of the crap that people have attempted to talk about in my dungeon finder groups make me not want to talk in group. plain

I dont find that the case most of the time. Every now and then you get a group that's on robot mode late at night. But most of the time all the groups I get in talk .

But again how is it any different than soloing 1 to 80?

I like the ease to find a dungeon but it takes all the social aspects out. Everything from finding a group of "friends" to chatting pretty much at all during the actual run is nil. I still very much prefer guild runs, but those are people I know, not new people.

When I was first starting out in WoW and Z Guild was still pretty small in this game, we were always grouping and making alliances with other players. Can't say we do that anymore...

It's a win / lose from my perspective.

Between LFD and battlegroups and teleporting everywhere, my server has no personality anymore. The only personality the server can really have is determined by the trade channel, which is a disaster.

So I miss the old days when you knew your opponents in PvP, and you had a friends list of people who weren't really your friend-friends, but you knew they were reliable to group with and so there was at least some synergy there (and you never knew if it they could turn into real friends).

But I don't miss waiting 20 minutes to hours to get into battlegrounds. I don't miss taking 30 minutes to get a group together and then riding / flying out to the location to do the dungeon.

There are no easy solutions that I can see, either. I guess I prefer the new system, but only by a little bit. It feels like I've got more quantity of game now, but less quality. I'd be VERY interested to see data on how long people are sticking around now, too, since there aren't as many social bonds / webs being formed.

I love it when you find that one group you repeat queue with for about two hours and have a blast.

DF is great for forming quick groups ( unless you're DPS of course ). I always try to be sociable but that's really what my guild is for.

I like it, but wish there were more groups with the same server players made, that way you would get to know more home server players.

yeah it's weird when no one speaks, but playing with people without speaking is less social than questing by yourself. that is all i could do before dungeon finder
