Yeah I sent the patch notes out to some friends and my wife. My wife has played her warlock since day 1. I was like that sound you hear is the scream of my wife reading over the warlock changes.

Did they bring back that Kalgan moron? He had a stiffy of biblical proportions for warlock nerfs.

Funny they nerf the damage output of the caster with the least defenses and at the same time buff mages some more.

Yeah, I don't play a lock, but like all have been smeared by them since '04 lol. Even though, never one to cry about it. I say ouch, and I feel for the lock players, they just got slammed hard with dmg nerfs.

I can see reducing the power of a Warlock. They were doing a bit better than they should. What I don't understand is reducing Warrior. They were already the worse at just about everything.

Yep, warlocks took it hard. 12% nerf across the board. Warriors took it pretty bad too. I'd even say worse.

Warrior

* Cleave damage has been reduced by approximately 17%.
* Execute damage has been reduced by approximately 17%.
* Heroic Strike damage has been reduced by approximately 17%.
* Overpower now does 125% weapon damage, down from 150%.
* Rend base damage has been reduced by approximately 17% and percent of weapon damage per tick lowered to 25%, from 30%.
* Shield Block now only increases block chance by 25%, but excess block that pushes avoidance plus block to over 100% is now converted to critical block chance.
* Slam now costs 15 rage, down from 20, and now does 125% weapon damage, down from 150%.
* Victory Rush damage has been reduced by approximately 17%.
* Whirlwind now does 65% weapon damage, down from 75%.
* Mortal Strike now does 150% weapon damage, down from 185%.
* Second Wind now heals for 2/5% of total health, down from 5/10%.
* Strikes of Opportunity now does 100% weapon damage, down from 115%.
* Blood Craze now heals for 1/2/3% of total health, down from 2.5/5/7.5%.
* Bloodthirst damage has been reduced by approximately 17%.

Since coming back, the regular game content seems incredibly easy. Not talking about raids or anything. Places in dungeons where I remember you had to be careful in the past, the tank can now herd. More adds? Who cares. One night in the stockades with an appropriately leveled group, the healer and tank went afk for a few minutes. But we continued on with Ice Mage, and 2 Warlocks (Demo and Destro).

Heck, that whole night we had problems finding tanks. In a funny incident earlier, a druid queued as tank but refused to go bear form. He would pop between cat and human form to heal himself. When we tried to explain that he should go bear, and the healer would heal him, no need to switch. He said, "no u won't". laugh

Ya I guess it sounds like I'm complaing, sorry. What I'm really doing is ASKING. Because I've been away for a little more than a year and just barely paying attention to the state of the game, so it's MORE likely that I'm missing something.

I guess that's my question: Are we about to log in to a totally changed landscape? Will Dec7th "just be the race to 85?"

This patch changes 1-60, yes. Every expac is a race to the new cap, regardless of new content. And the 80-85 stuff will still be unavailable till Cataclysm launches. Just 1-60 is being changed.

So it all happened behind the scenes then? I mean, I knew I wouldn't be able to see Deathwing flying around blowing stuff up, but the elemental invasions felt pretty tame compared to the zombie infestation, the Scourge invasion of Orgrimmar, and the confrontation between Thrall and Garrosh that happened pre-wotlk.

I was kinda getting pumped to see what else they were going to throw at us.

Or maybe I'm just remembering the pre-wotlk stuff with rose-colored glasses. tongue

The elemental invasion was just a PITA for lowbies trying to level and get around. They spawn in whatever town you are trying to turn your quests into and that in turn despawned the flight master and the quest givers until it was over. Or you would need to kill X number of things and the elementals would be killing everything.

Or you are just auctioning some stuff when the auctioneers all disappear. You walk out to go quest again to be 1 shot by an elemental right as your BG pops. You can't enter dead so run back and try and get to a safe place to rez only to be 1 shot again.

Serious PITA at low levels but non eventful at 80.
