I'm not getting it until the last book is out and available on paperback or ebook for a decent price.

My boss got his signed personally by Brandon Sanderson yesterday. His signed book is numbered somewhere in the 80's.

Jordan's widow is a godless heathen who hates everything and had personally delayed the ebook version of Towers of Midnight by an entire year.

My hardcover is coming snail mail because I intended to get the e-book yesterday. Now my life is ruined.

Well, after thinking about it for a while.. I am a little bit dissappointed.I was really pleased with the last book. (To the point where I went out and bought the rest of Sandersons books) But this one, though it did get better at the end, left me feeling a bit.. Meh..

Personally I feel that has to do with an ending that wasn't quite as emotionally charged as the ending in TGS.

Aye, I'm happy the damn timeline for everybody is on the same page, could be possibly the other charring bit with the book, you have a character in two places because of timelines of the characters.

Yeah. I was actually wondering if only one of "him" were real, and the other some agent of the shadow... (with him beeing more then once place I mean)

Thought it an odd choice from sanderson if thats not true though.. looking forward to the ending now happy

Personally, I feel it was some what of a mistake on Jordan's part to allow the timelines of the characters to get so separated, that time was then needed to get all on the same day.

Tam of course being the character in question here when it comes to him being in two different timelines at once.

Who knows, perhaps the books could have been done differently where some of the Events that take place in this book could have been done in TGS and likewise some of the matters that took place in TGS could have shown up in this book.

I'm not saying that I dislike ToM, I think it is a well done book, but regardless of what Sanderson did, this issue of the timelines being so separated was something that needed to get taking care off in the end. It's unfortunate that it had to be done in this book and that in some cases it lacked that emotional umph I mentioned that was found in TGS. That so many various plot lines and character story arches needed to be taking care off that in the end the book does in some cases just read like, okay that matter is taking care off, now this matter needs to get taking care off. Of course, I wonder what the book would have read like if A Memory of Light was still just the one book and what would have had to be left out as well. So I'm happy that it got separated into three, even though I view in the end the three books still being that initial one book that Jordan wanted, only done in three parts. Of course, very rarely do I view the series and the story by their separate individual book parts, but just as one long story.

I have high hopes though for A Memory of Light and am looking forward to 2012, just happy that it will be released before the end of the world in December. tongue

I'm halfway through. I'm having a fun time trying to guess which is Jordan's words and which are Brandon's... I think I can tell when something doesn't quite fit with the earlier series. It's kind of funny that I almost get upset when this happens, but take a step back and realize that it's not really a bad change.

I do notice a major change in the arrangements of chapters though. Jordan used to pack in many characters in the chapters, Sanderson seems to swap back and forth between two per chapter for the most part. Also, I don't think Jordan ever put a map mid-chapter. That's probably what got me thinking about this whole thing.

I finished it a few days ago, and I can't wait to read the next. I definitely noticed more Sanderson style writing in this book compared to TGS, but that's to be expected.

One thing that was a first for me was that I found myself getting annoyed by a certain main character.

The whole Perrin and Elayne scenes made me quite annoyed with Elayne's character... and the part where Perrin accepts being merely "steward" of the Two Rivers... come on! bah...

Seeing the future through Aviendha's eyes was really interesting too.

Overall, I was not disappointed one bit and look forward to the final book as well as more from Sanderson. happy

I bought it as well.

The main problem I have now is this:
1. Deciding if I want to read the book alone now.
2. Deciding if I want to read the entire series NOW and then this book at the end of it.
3. Deciding if I want to wait until next year (Sept/Oct 2011) and THEN start reading the entire series again, and reading THIS and Memories of Light fresh.

Decisions Decisions.

Not sure if that's just when you are thinking of starting to read the whole series. You do know that Memories of Light isn't expected to be released until around March 2012? ... Just making sure.

The release date is fuzzy. The original plan was early November 2011 but Sanderson said that it was going to take a little more time and the worst case scenario was March 2012.

I just started a relaxed reread of the series.  Reading a bit here and there pacing myself to hit the end of what's released sometime around february.  I tried reading the last book without a reread, but, while I picked up most of it, there were a few little details that I just couldn't place so I said to hell with it and started over....again.
