so, anyone remember back in the day you could use a skin to completely change the AC char screen and in game health bars, mana, stam, spellbars al that good stuff look. i cant seem to find any that work anymore. so i am ISO a really techie person to make some again! Think it would be really cool to bring these back. and prolly make some even better kick ass lookin ones.

I attempted to redo some of the old skins when I was back in game about a year ago.

The problem is with the main method of changing the in-game skins, which was the BMPSWAP application. It let you create a batch file that swapped all the textures in and out automatically.

The client has been changed several times since that app was first programmed, and the old version no longer works.

I did manage to contact the original programmers, to find out if they could help update the apps to work with the new clients, but they have moved on from AC long ago, and don't have the same kind of time to devote to reprogramming it.

As I was digging at the time, there were a couple of methods of swapping textures from the .dat files, but they were shakey at best, and had to be done one at a time... no way to automate it.

So that is where it left off... unless you can find someone with some free time who could code another version of BMPSWAP or something similar, then you won't be seeing a revamp of the skinning system.

If you know someone who wanted to take a swing at it, I can provide all the original apps and the source code for them, if it'll help as a starting point.
