ok, these boards have been dominated lately with FF and Pick-em league...and we really havent had any great convos as of late...so i thought i would throw out a bone. (kinda miss Amendial's silly responses).

Vick filled in for Kolb after a week one concussion...and has performed very well. now that Kolb is back the job is no longer his. i think he has thrown like 8 passes after signing a huge contract and named the starter after trading Mcnabb to a rival. i know that the Eagles/Phily is a win now town, but do you guys think it is the right move for them to pull/take away Kolb job due to injury and leave the team in the hands of Vick?

there is the point that the offensive line isnt the best and even Vick gets sacked...and if you put a QB back there without the feet to flee like Vick it could be carnage!

so how would you guys handle it? start/bench/trade Kolb?

I'm not a Philly guy, but I am a win guy. Vick is playing really well in relief of Kolb and as long as that keeps happening, its tough noogies for Kolb. The NFL is a job - a very results oriented job. Can Kolb produce? probably but now we might never know...

Is it right?

Right to whom?

To the owner who is now paying his backup QB a ton of money? Probably not.
To Kolb who waited patiently behind McNabb and was deemed the starter? Probably not.
To the fans of Philly? As long as the team wins I say it probably is right.
To the owner/coach as a person who benefits if the team wins? Probably.

i have heard the Andy Reid was all about giving the job back to Kolb, but the owner got involved and trumped him...not sure if it is true, but not sure if this would happen in say Baltimore, or Jax...and i use those teams as example becasue imo thost QB's are the closes to resembling Kolb in overall talent..not exceptional, and not dogs...but show elite type play at times.

i really think its Phily, and the win-now at all costs...Phily's fans seem to be either your great! or your a bum! and they will let you know!

i kinda hope they stay with Vick...say come Oct. 17th. they play Atlanta at home...now that would be interesting game, just a shame it wont be at Atlanta.

Why is everyone overlooking the fact that he was concussed? Concussions are a fickle injury much in the same way as high ankle sprains in that no two are ever alike, they take time to properly heal from them and even then it's hard to tell exactly when you're healed. If they put Kolb back out there too soon then he's not going to last, which isn't going to be good for the organization after what they invested in him. It's far better from the position of the team to keep him on the bench a while longer and let Vick do well rather than have Kolb potentially become useless.

i agree, but then there is the real world and how the player/coach/trainer will want to rush their QB back asap...would be interesting to see what they would have done if Vick would have sucked.

They traded McNabb because Kolb is the future of the team so it makes no sense to me why he's not starting this week, unless they're just being extra careful with his concussion.

It will be very interesting to see if they leave Kolb on the bench if Vick keeps playing well and winning.

As a Vick fan and fantasy player I think it's great. If I was an Eagles fan I'd be upset that we're not seeing what Kolb can do as early as possible.

the NFL is a win now league, not much room to grow unless you are forced by a #1 QB draft pick...so he will play till he sucks.

im not sure i would agree with that..Phily fans are notorious for being over the top when it comes to their city and sports...they are the type of "what are they going to do for me today" kinda thing...i can honestly say that Vick is the man if he performs well, but the first time he has a couple bad plays or week and he will be the goat of the Phily media and fans.

From an entertainment stand point: I enjoy watching Vick play much more than Kolb. He's a dynamic player that has matured a bit over the past few years (for various reasons). He still has trouble with field vision on the scramble, but hell who doesn't.

In a franchise view: I still think they made a good choice letting him start. Having suffered a concussion in high school and two in college, I can tell you they can last awhile. It's better safe than sorry, especially with a QB. They'll play Vick until he blows it, then it will be Kolb's turn again.

If I'm the coach I look at it this way: I've got a sieve for an offensive line, I have a very high paid QB who has the mobility of a statue and who has already been sacked for a concussion, and I have a very mobile backup QB who threw for 300 yds last week. To me it's a no-brainer, Vick starts.
