Make sure when you are downloading the installer that you are actually saving it to your hard drive and not trying to run it from it's current location. Once you have it downloaded, then try opening the file you just downloaded. Also make sure to install it to c:\Games and NOT into program files.

That happens when you go to try and redownload it? What browser are you trying to download it with? My guess would be IE. Probably have to clear IE's cache, but I think trying to download it with another browser, like Firefox, would be a better idea.

So you have a file that is something like ac1install.exe somewhere on your computer and when you click on that, it comes up with the messages about if this program didn't install correctly?

Just trying to make sure I understand where exactly the problem starts happening. I have never seen someone have that problem when trying to install AC. I keep thinking that it's trying to run the installer from the current location instead of actually downloading it and then letting you click on the installer to start the install.

Where are you downloading it from? http://ac.turbine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=77&Itemid=71&NavItemid=62 is where you should be downloading it from. (Make sure to follow the directions where it says to Save As or Save Target As) That also has a link to the data files so that you can get everything mostly up to date to prevent the patching from taking forever when you do eventually get this figured out.

How you are saying it's happening makes no sense whatsoever.

Once the file is completely downloaded, it should just sit there and wait for you to do something with it. It should not be talking about whether or not it's compatible with Windows or not.

What browser are you using to download the install file? Do you have any 3rd party download managers running? What size is the install file once it's completely downloaded? Can you right click on the install file and run it as Administrator?

The install file itself doesn't check which particular version of Windows you are running and plenty of people, myself included, run AC on Windows 7 just fine.

I have seen this same problem on other post about the download from turbine website. I will see if i can find the solution they came up with on the turbine forums.

EDIT: I can't find the post I was thinking of. Do you have another computer you can download it to then transfer it via flash drive, network, or dvd?

No i have no other computer to download it too, looks like i may have to jump threw hoops of fire for a few days to get this working. i downloaded directx9 maybe it has something to do with that....redownloading ac1installer.exe again...taking forever this time...

Unsane, i am using IE, no 3rd party download managers running at all from what i know, i did not download any being it is a new laptop. ThI download the file ac1install.exe to c:\games\ac1installer.exe. Just finished downloading ac1install.exe the size of file after downloading is 470kb. File is in c:\games\ac1install.exe, i right click on the file and run as admin, security window pops up asking if its ok if this program is safe, after pressing yes nothing happens....

It doesn't matter where you download the file to so much as where you install AC to. But at least you are paying attention. wink

470kb? Not 470MB? If so, that's part of the problem. I have the file and it's 463MB. Which would basically mean that it didn't download properly for you before. If it's not downloading properly with IE, I would seriously give another browser a try.
