It did not piss me off and here is why.

I love the Nick animated version as do my sons, who got me to watch it with them.

We went to see the movie expecting to see something similar to the cartoon.

That's pretty much what we got. Yes, they missed some things but hard to put the entire first season into 1.5 hours.

Yes there were some irritating changes. The pronunciation of Aang and Sakka to begin with. The loss of Sakka's humor being another, very little momo.

What we did not expect to see was a potentially award winning film.

Which, of what I have read, seems to be the main problem people have with it, especially critics. I guess because of the director involved many people expected an epic movie on the scale of LoTR or something. It is what is to me, a kids movie. Yes it was horrid at many times and they took liberties I wish they had not taken. But I guess having had few expectations walking in, I was fine with what I got. The kids liked it and that is all that matters in the end.

Now what really ticks me off is that some people are really pushing the boundaries of sanity by claiming their was some hidden agenda in the movie because the "good guys" were mostly whitish while the "bad guys" were brown/darkish. Reading too much into a kids movie is bad.

im upset that they didnt use the name avatar, the last air bender, instead they just made it the last airbender (!@#$ u, james cameron >.<)

but i havent seen it yet, but from the trailers i am very impressed with how well the actors were with their martial arts techniques.

Netflix is showing me 3 "books" which appear to be 16 - 20 episode seasons (all available for streaming).

Yea 3 seasons. Thing is every episode contributes in some way to the overall story arc, which I really liked about it.
