Subject: Dual client Issue--2nd glass tube will not fill
I have installed ac/acdc/decal into a folder named c:games..............

Everything works fine, my first account logs in properly, decal works etc. When I log into my 2nd account, I get to the screen where there are 2 glass tube to fill up, one for connection, the 2nd for updating. The connection tube fills up, then the 2nd tube stays empty untill I get the message "connection to server has been lost"

I have reinstalled ac/acdc/decal 3 times now,all to their own folder, i have read many posts about issues with decal/acdc running on vista, and no luck. any suggestions?

here is my export

All you need to do is forward one port from your router to each pc (one port for each pc). Then use that port you specified on each pc. You can either set the port in the userpreferences.ini file (under my documents) or use ACDC to set the port for you.

If you are not sure how to forward a port this site can walk you through it.

yes. I would forward a block of maybe 5-10 ports to your pc. Ports 9000-9010 for example.

You only need to forward the ports to the IPv4 address.

EX: Port 9000-9005 > 192.168.1.101 (whatever the ipv4 address is for your comp)

I am not sure what you asking. You only have to forward the specified ports once to the IPv4 address. There are just over 65k ports available on a computer. You can only use each port once. For that reason you have to tell each client to use a specific port so they do not both try to use the same port at the same time.

pardon my computer illiteracy, but how do i do tell each client to use separate ports on one comp? I thought maybe I could change the port in user preferences, but there is only one of those files.

The easiest way is to use AC dual client from drakier. The program will assign ports for you. The other way is to modify the .ini file in the mydocuments\asheron's call folder.

I had to modify the port in the documents/asheronscall/preferences folder to run ac.

But how do I set it to use 2 diff ports for 2 accounts? I have gone into the file looking for just that, but there is only one port # that I can change, and there is only one file to do this. I figured when dual client copied the files on install, that userpreference file would be duplicated as well.

I am sure this is a problem with ports, i just cannot find where/how to make the 2 diff accounts use diff ports.

i have acdc set to auto port, so I am unsure why it is not doing what it should......I have uninstalled/deleted/reinstalled acdc a few times now and still no luck

you will probably have to use Dual Client. I did not think about there only being one .ini file.

Did you figure out how to forward the ip addresses on your router?

Delt, when using dual client, you have to tell it to use different ports. There's a box for it.

You first have to forward those ports from your router.

www.portforward.com

forward ports 9000-9050 to your ipv4 address for example

Same issue still.

Second glass tube doesn't fill on second account only. "Connection to server has been lost".

I have ports 9000-9015 forwarded to my IP via my router. (If I don't have this AC doesn't work at all.)

I am using Drakier's Dual Client, I've tried specifying the port to use as well as auto port.

First account logs in just fine, second account I get this issue.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

After much tinkering around I finally got it to work.

I started to try to force AC to use certain ports by modifying the userpref file. I forced it to use port 9000 and it would log in (all this with a single client at this point), anything above port 9000 and it wouldn't connect, I tried 9001, 9002 etc.

Anyway, on to the fix. Originally I had my router set up to forward ports 9000-9015. Now I set it to forward ports 9000-9005. I added a second line to forward 9006-9015. In Dual Client I now force my first launch of AC to run port 9000, second one to run 9006. It worked!

Hope this helps.

When you say you added a second line, do you add another line with the same IP address?
