How much blood was in it? I want to see it, but not sure I can talk the fiancee into it. She doesn't care to much for a lot of blood and gore in movies... I took her to see Ninja Assassin without knowing this and felt bad afterward.

Isn't Kick-Ass more of an action/comedy? Judging by the commercials, I can't see it being bloody like Ninja Assassin.

Really good. I only wished I hadn't seen so much of the awesomeness in the trailers and clips. Probably my favorite superhero type movie yet.

A production budget of 30 million and a two day gross of 37 million, I doubt the studio is complaining too hard.

Where did you get 37 mill from? What I read said it did roughly 15 million int he first two days, and will do about 20 for the weekend. Also, keep in mind 30 million might not be an accurate budget, probably doesn't account for advertising, and a studio takes home roughly 55% of what a film grosses, after the theater owners get their cut.

You seem to forget that movies are released other places than America.

I do? What about my post indicated that.

nm, I guess you're saying your total included foreign grosses. I didn't think the foreign numbers would be out that quick. Still, I don't know how they're divided up. I do know the studio was hoping for closer to 30 mill domestic, according to reports, so the 20 will be seen as a disappointment. And though foreign box office is important, the domestic numbers are how the studio typically measures success. However Kick-Ass should get strong word of mouth, and could very well play longer than the 20 million indicates... plus it could take off on DVD, etc...

I honestly think this is one that is going to do much better in weeks 2 and 3 than in week 1.

I know out of the 5 of us that went, 3 of us are going to see it again on Tuesday night. I think the word of mouth is going to help boost it quite a bit.

You gotta think, that most people won't go to opening weekend top a show that they are on the fence about. No reason to fight crowds or whatnot for a movie you just aren't that sure about.

That's what the fiancee thought to, even though I warned her. Turned out more violent than she was expecting. Definitely no where near Ninja Assassin, but there is more gore than she thought would be.

Latecomer to this party. Just saw it today, and for the most part I liked it. Some pretty disturbing scenes, but I expected it since it was an R rated movie, mostly where Kick Ass and Big Daddy get captured, I didn't care that Hit Girl swore like a sailor and killed lots of guys pretty brutally. I liked that Hit Girl gets her butt kicked in the end too, was wondering if she had any kind of weaknesses. I did wonder why she bothered to bring grenades if she wasn't going to use them though.

Sadly I was the only person in the theater, so I'm guessing they're going to be pulling it from theaters this week. Hopefully we'll get a sequel.

ditto, i thought they would have been perfect in the scene before Kick Ass appears. wink even if they were only a few flash-bang ones.
