Soccer has better average attendance now than the NHL (no surprise) and NBA (eh?)

A sold out NBA arena does not seat much more than 20,000. So those numbers are not going to be indicative of fan interest. If you want to evalute from the prespective of fan interest I would show numbers of unsold available seats.

The sad thing is that 10-12 years ago, Hockey seemed to be growing...and then it went from Fox to the Outdoor Life Network and Versus frustrated

Well, I would actually watch Hockey if the Blues didn't suck so much every year..

I'm a fair weather hockey fan. I'll admit it. Also, no NBA team in my area either doesn't make me want to watch it seriously. Columbia guy already owns a NBA team - but its in Denver so I don't see any Missouri NBA teams anytime soon unless he can move the Nuggets.

I just can not sit down and watch an entire NBA game. NBA just doesn't seem like basketball to me. It is amazing how different the NBA game is from the college game. I love hockey, but getting a game on TV is hard to do. Would love to see hockey pick up a television contract that most people could have access to.

I've heard NBA guys saying that they can't watch the college game because it's so basic compared to the pro style. For me, I enjoy both when it means something. In both leagues, all the good teams get into the post season, so I don't feel particularly compelled to watch more than part of a regular season game here and there when it's convenient. Even though MLB has twice as many games as the NBA they can have legitimately good teams miss the playoffs, so that is why a regular season baseball game means more to me. Not that I watch a ton of them in their entirety either, but more than basketball regular season.

kinda OT, but i heard today that the Indiana Pacers are thinking about leaving unless some demands are met...this would sadden me somewhat...i havent really liked the NBA since Reggie Miller retired, and just not that into the thug league anymore.

i just wish the NFL season would hurry up and get here.

To be honest, I'm a life long Cadavaliers fan, but ever since the mid 90's, or more specifically the post Dougherty (sp?), Price, Nance, and Ello (sp?) era, I just haven't been able to really give a damn about them. Hell even recently with LeBron I can't even really get my hopes up, since the Indians have proven that even the "top" team in the city can't keep the talent here, and yes they were the top team in in Cleveland when the Browns were non-existent...Just give me college football season already cry

You also really have to factor in the cost of going to the game also. Going to an MLS game is far cheaper than going to an NBA game (well at least here in SoCal) so it's a cheap family event.

The AYSO generation is growing up also so it's no surprise that interest in soccer is on the rise.

I've been to at least one game from the big 4 and if I had to rate the experience I would say NHL was the best with NFL being a very close second followed by MLB and than NBA.

If more people went to NHL games live than I think there would be a lot more NHL fans out there.
