The day I thought would never get here arrived today. Today, I stepped down as monarch, and handed Legends over to Starman. It was fun while it lasted, but all things must end.
I'm not going to do a big goodbye post, and list everyone who I was friends with. That'd be way to long, and I'd probably miss someone I didn't want to. So, instead, I'll just say thank you to everyone who's been a part of my AC experience, even if they are no longer here. I'll still be around, checking the boards, and popping into game occasionally.
Take care, Wintersebb. Thanks for all the memories and good times. Perhaps, I'll see you again soon.

I have been playing on WE since 2001 and have been a member of only 2 guilds. My first monarch was Beth aka Ionia the Younger of the Highlanders. I was concernd back in early 2006 when Beth left, mostly due to health reasons and we merged with the Legends.
I portaled to the mansion and stood around by myself for a while watching several groups of people chatting. Immediately upon seeing me standing around, Cyns asked me to come over and join their group of about 6 or 7 peole that were chatting in private. She introduced me to everyone and we started talking and from that moment on, I felt I had found a new home. ( I think Bruce was there.........but I later forgave her for that  )
I have watched hundreds of people leave this game for various RL reasons and I have been enriched for meeting them. Most of them started playing AC early in their lives and I watched them grow and real life became something they could not ignore any longer.
I'm somewhat unique in the fact that I started playing when my only daughter left for college and my wife and I became "empty nesters". I just turned 58 on friday, so that gives you some perspective on how I view WE.
I take the reigns from Cyns, because she is at one of those places in RL that demand her attention much more than any fantasy world. I told her I would be a good steward until things change or heaven forbid, the game ends.
One thing will never change, I will always be her and J's friend,. I have met them in RL several times and even tho they are a beautiful young couple with a beautiful daughter, they accepted an old blad guy to be a friend.
So Cyns, this is not goodbye.............................it's only ....when are we meeting at Pizzaria Uno downtown Chicago for a few beers, pizza and some good conversation??? I f you don't want to drive all the way home, my wife and I have an extra bedroom you can stay.
Oh yeah, BTW, I am Starman and currently helping out a friend with a job I swore I would never do and could never "fill her shoes", "take her place"..etc.

Like Miatte, you always made me feel welcome and were a great friend long before I swore to you (like years before) You were one of the people that kept me playing for so long, but I too have given it up for now at least. I never say never but the game just eats up too much valuable time and my real life is so much more meaningful and deserving of my attention. Thank you for everything and I wish you all the best looking ahead, you have been a great friend to me and I appreciate it.

i remember when i first came into legends. i was running around for a few days just trying to get used to a new guild and i get a message from cyns, "darg said you would make a good officer, are you interested?". i am thinking, "she is listening to darg?"

Hmm. I check this forum for the first time since September and I see this post but half a year later...
You'd be surprised how upsetting this is. In all honesty for the past half a decade (maybe less, whatever) Cyns has been more or less the face of WE. This is the third decade for this games existence. You guys realize that? And probably the most prominent player is finally taking their bow.
The influence you have had over many lives is probably more than you can imagine, no matter how small or large. Not that we were best friends, and I know we haven't (unfortunately) talked in many years, but it still hits me, and I'll miss you Cyns.
I started playing this game when I was 9. Single digits! And now I'm in college! The majority of my life has known this game. Really cognitive thought begins at what, 4? In terms of memories we remember at least. And five years after that I was playing this game. Think about it guys. What were you doing more than a decade ago? Think about all the things you've done, places you've seen. All of that has had this game interspersed! You log on and people have heard your stories. In 40 years you might remember a name from this game and say, "Wow, I wonder how their life turned out." And when you think of Asheron's Call, which we all know we will at one point or another, we will think of those prominent faces. And I know I haven't played WE religiously in half a decade, but this server is still my home. When I think of AC I think of WE first, and in my opinion the face of WE has been Cyns.
Cyns, I wish you luck in all of your life's endeavors. Whether we speak again, see each other on the boards, what have you, know there will certainly be times that decades from now I remember your name.
And that goes for the rest of you as well.
