Do they just not want to be nagged on? or does that mean they want to be left alone until THEY want to talk?

I'd say it's a pretty rare teen that wants to talk to their parents. (Congrats to any parents that have one that does. happy )

I started talking openly and honestly to my mother again when I was 18 or so. She'd ask questions like "Where did you go? How much did you drink?" I just started answering truthfully. The answers appalled her so she stopped asking. I still find that situation funny. 4am conversations with my mother while I was

My father and I never got along until a few months after I moved out of his house. Every now and then we put some effort into being civil but mostly we just avoided speaking about anything except whatever task we were doing. Once I moved out we both matured a bit and we got along great after that. If I have any regrets in life they'd be about how I treated my father as a teen.

I thankfully don't have this issue; my daughter actively seeks me out to talk to me about things, and get my perspective/advice.

this was sent to me in an email.... it works for mom and dads alike and unfortunately during this whole my parent's dont know anything stage they don't want to talk to you.

4 yrs. old........My Mommy can do anything.

8 yrs. old........My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 yrs. old........My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.

14 yrs. old........Naturally, Mother doesn't know that either.

16 yrs. old........Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned and still doesn't know anything.

18 yrs. old........That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 yrs. old........Well, she might know a little bit about it.

35 yrs. old........Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

45 yrs. old........Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 yrs. old........Wish I could talk it over with Mom once more.

They don't wanna talk to anyone. Teenagers tend to stay away from their parents cause there's a usual clash between them. Parents don't usually understand their children, what they are going through.
