I liked it, but not a lot of others I know really understood it. I had to explain a bit.
Not a bad movie overall, but don't expect a lot of "action".

I really enjoyed it. Going to go find the DVD or BluRay for it and buy it probably.

Well I decided to get it and I liked it. The only thing I didnt like was how dark some of the movie was... but I think that was due to my POS TV...1 more month for my tax refund happy

Ended up getting the BluRay... I'm no audiophile or video snob but I thought it was excellent. The extras were pretty nice too. It was cool to see the original short and listen to the commentary and interviews about the movie after I watched it.

I thought it was a good movie. Nothing spectacular in my opinion. Not sure if I would buy it. Maybe on blu-ray when it is $15 or less.

This really was a waste of time...the movie has a weak plot, the story is fragmented and ends very abruptly with many loopholes....though the animation is top notch.

Once the movie started, I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt by telling myself that it might get interesting in the later stage, but it was never unique. This same plot has been played over and over again, but what made it worse was that the major plot hole was the whole story on how to kill the baddies...The writer could have done so much more with the entire concept, but seemed that he or she did not have their heart in it and wanted to close the movie as soon as it started.

Overall, too much hype but not able to deliver.

like others have said, visually it was nice, the level of detail that went into the world that was created was impressive, but the story was lacking. Plus for some reason the whole numbers thing kept throwing me off, i kept forgetting which number was who, which two numbers where gone, which where in the story, how many where left, how many total tongue seemed like a math problem at times.

I'm a bit curious..
where has this story been done over and over again?

And killing the baddies wasn't the point. It was about his plan to regrow / repopulate a dead world being played.

as far as i saw the only thing they where trying to do was survive, and then help release his trapped friends, i didn't see any hints or even any way that they could repopulate. , or that it was ever their goal.

if you mean the old man, i think his only plan was to leave behind a little of humanity, before it all disappeared.

The dolls were just the means to an end.
Their personalities were all just aspects of the old man, but not understanding their purpose.
I'm a bit foggy on the movie, as it's been a while now, but I don't even think they needed to activate the monster, but was just their misunderstanding of what to do with the key.
At the end, the entire point of their existence was something in their genetic code introduced into the atmosphere that made it rain again, as well as introduced the bateria/enzymes/amino acids for evolution to start again.
Unless someone left early or went to the bathroom at the end, they couldn't have missed seeing it swimming around in the rain.

hmmm i completely missed what your describing in the end, I'll have to check it out, though i didn't watch it in the theaters, the copy i had might have had that part taken out.

also i was unaware that the poison the robots released was so devastating that it would destroy every living thing including micro organisms.

Yeah it says it kills every living thing. The end was just rain falling onto the screen then the focus switches and you see green microscopic life floating around in the drops.

I think the scientist died before being able to tell 9 what needed to be done. When he returned to the lab towards the end he found the movie box that told him what he needed to know. If he had found it earlier I'm sure things would've turned out much different, lol.
