Subject: LifetankXI 11.7.x.x EOL Notice
I'm sure it's already happened and I'm late posting it, but LifetankXI has reached it's End of Life. The domain has expired and I have no plans on renewing it at this time. Obviously the domain and website are required for the authentication code to reach the server to work. I'm pretty sure I've lost the source code of the latest version so either way I'm unable to compile an auth-less version for the loyal XI users out there, as there are still quite a few.

I apologize for any inconvenience this poses but I haven't played AC in some time now and with V-Tank going there's not much reason to keep Lifetank alive.

That's a real bummer man becuase I rely heavily on Lifetank.

Is there a version that does not require the server?

Since you do not have the code to fix the error, do you think you could let someone pay for the next year to keep the thing alive?

For the webhost you could use a good free site.. Doesn't seem like a bad place you could check out: www.Free-Web-Host.me It allows you to create a site as long as you have a few visitors going to it they don't shut you down it seems.

backing up rare source code is a must..

Xeon took my source code an kept going with Lifetank X 11.9.x.x

Webhosting isn't the issue because I have my own webhosting business, I just don't want to pay for the domain.

I really had no reason to keep a backup of the code since I already passed it on.

AFAIK, Lifetank X still works fine.. I guess if it turns out to be that big of a deal someone else can buy it and point the NS servers to me, but with VTank and Lifetank X I really don't see a reason in keeping it online.

Actually.... what brought me to this forum was a google search for "liftank default dmg." I can not get life tank to cast the level or damage type of the spells I choose. I choose pierce level 4 with force dmg on, and it fires lightning level one. I remove the force dmg and choose war level 3, and it fires bludgeon level 2. I have no idea what is going on. I am not sure if it has anything to do with this guy modifyng your original code and overlooking some syntax conflicts, or if it has something to do with me installing lifetank before I installed decal (not that I see how that would change anything) or even something else like the MS .net framework. I am using Vista, which I think may factor into the problem. I am only a sophomore in college for Software Engineering. I wish I could contribute more! I did, however, find out about vtank from your post! Thanks for the heads up. Also, thank you so much for creating lifetank. I've been using it for years. I shall give vtank a shot right now. Have a nice day.

it can't be what 6 bucks a year to keep the the name?

I could pitch in 12 bucks to keep it for the next 2 years if that's what it takes.

Lifetank X, and VTank cast buffing in an order that makes less logical sense than XI.

Lifetank XI is the best buffing program that (did) currently function.

It appears as though Auth Server 3 still functions. I can get the plugin to run if I use that to authenticate.

I bought all of the scrolls. It still shoots acid 2, no matter what damage type or level I choose.

What's wrong with the order, and why does the order matter at all? If you are letting some of your buffs lapse before rebuffing, you are already doing things wrong...

If I had a choice, I would prefer my item buffs to be cast last. Specifically my weapon buffs.

I have items that backup my creature and life, but not my weapon or shield.

And I do like to hunt right to the end of my buffs.

And I also would prefer to have creature buffs done first. That way my skill is higher for the subsequent buffs.

This is the order they are done in LTXI, and the way I prefer. Nothing really “wrong” with the order of the other two, but it is not an order I prefer.

And there is nothing wrong with letting buffs drop. There are places in the game where you must learn to fight with item creature buffs because you will likely be without them if you solely rely on them being caste.

VTank does it the way you say. It does:

Creature mastery, focus, self
Creature buffs
Regens
Prots
Armor banes/imp
Item spells on weapons and shields

This order is pretty much the same as all other tank/buffing plugins that existed prior to VTank being written.

IMO Give all ur coding to someone to continue the production of the plugin. buy a cheap domain name 6 bucks a year or get it donated. and teach one of us hwo to update the xml's on it. Bam its hands free for u.

I was unaware that VTank did indeed buff in that order. The group I play with each week looked and tested every buffing program that currently functions.

I myself did not test VTank. Another did and when I investigated to learn more about it, it seemed not as customizable at LTXI (add/remove specific spells for example that I don’t see in the user guide for VTank). It just goes to show you should trust but verify.

None of the plugins seemed to function reliably and buff in the order I mentioned. There were challenges we faced varied with each plugin we looked at with the exception of LTXI. For example, Alinco while customizable seems to stop in the middle of buffing and must be forced to continue. LTX buffs in a different order than LTXI (But I cannot quote to which version of LTX I tested). I was told (but did not verify) that VTank had the same routine.

Thank you for the heads up about the order. Knowing what I know now I will try it out Vtank myself, since it is likely that our group will have to move away from LTXI.

That part is mostly correct. You cannot change which creature spells are cast, but you can change prots and banes.

in the advanced tab you scroll all the way to the bottom and change the option next to banes

each letter represents an element... i havent figured out how to use the "custom" setting.. dont think its functional yet

edit: should just make it so that is scrolls through all the different combinations of the different spells.. what are there 7! = 5040? lol



seems like VI wrote half of this program and has since been to busy or given up on it... damn shame plain

I'd chip in a few bucks for the domain name too... I have been loyal tank user for long time. Tank still have the best loot system in the game except for epics. I have been running Virindi tank and life-tank at the same time for the past 2 months. Virindi to combat and tank to loot. It has worked well for me i am overflowing with salvage.... But it makes no sense to continue to use both so i will learn how to loot in Virindi... not as simple.

also tanks ability to vuln/imperal without wars is best - there is nothing else like it in the game.

VTank can also do this. Uncheck the 'w' checkbox next to a monster and it will not be attacked, but still debuffed.

I've been using Auth Server 3 for the last week. I tried Lifetank X at one point and couldn't get it to work, so I reverted back to your version Crelic. I haven't tried any others recently, but actually came to this board today to look for a new one that looted / ID'd the new loot. I'm afraid I'm missing good stuff on DI when I hunt there.

If you're going to let someone else just pay the domain, that would be cool so we can keep using your version.

I don't UCM and I do care about the auto-fellow. I don't want to pause my macro to get someone into the fellow nor do I want to keep clicking the recruit button over and over until I neither my char not the one I want to recruit is not "too busy". LTx sends a tell shortly before the actual recruiting, giving the person who wants to join the chance to stop attacking/healing/whatever and it automatically pauses it's other activities when doing so.

Additionally, if people use VTank to UCM anyhow, I'd rather be able to get into their damn fellow instead of being on my own. And reporting an UCM to get it out of the dungeon hardly ever worked a year ago when I left, I doubt it magically works now.

So, in my opinion not having auto-fellow in VTank can hurt non-UCMers just as much as the UCMers.
I do however respect if VI says it will not be implemented for whatever reason. User input and feature requests are all nice, but at the end of the day it's the plugin developers time that goes into it, so while we (users) may disagree with the reasons, we have to accept the decision (or write our own plugins).

If auth server #3 still works, then thats fine. If I remember correctly, that was point to my server just under a different domain which for the most part will never drop.

So, if that's a workaround for people thats cool. I won't turn off the auth script, but it sounds like it'll just require everyone to type /auth server 3 every time you log in.

ltx can be told to cast what ever spell you what it too, you just have to have understanding of the script
