I have a brain Block. It seems to happen alot lately lol

I'd like to take the kids/hubby for a picnic next week, Other than the blah blah sandwich and fruit I just have NO idea what to pack!

So, what are your favorite picnic foods???

Summer sausage, aged cheddar and swiss and some wheat/sesame crackers to have with them plus a nice bottle of wine. Homemade cookies or pie in resealable plastic containers for dessert.

Steamed shrimp are good (can eat them cold - bring lots of wipes!)

Salad with any kind of vinaigrette and a nice loaf of bread.

Watermelon is a must.

Being a vegetarian, mustard potato salad is probably my favorite picnic food.

A good thing to try is cold soup in your cooler. Like a gazpacho or a dessert soup. very refreshing in the Summer.

Dessert soups are usually pureed and chilled fruits with the addition of yogurt (plain) in some cases. I have also had it with dollops of sour cream

off the top of my head one of my family's favorites is strawberry soup:
2 to 2 1/2 cups of berries washed and hulled
1 cup of water
1 cup of apple juice
1/2 cup sugar (you may need more depending on sweetness of berries)
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp cinnamon
2 cups of plain yogurt

In a pan combine 3/4 cup water spices, juice, sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Bring to a boil stir once in a while. take it off burner and let cool

in your blender add the berries, the rest of the water puree then add in the juice mixture, taste for sweetness and add more sugar if needed then last add the yogurt.
refridgerate.

some people add mint into the cooking part and garnish with mint.
