Original as-is image

Adjusted a bit.

Just a test of a lighting setup. Can you guess what I did to get this pic? (Not the adjustments, that's pretty obvious. happy )

The light is inside the bowl?

The adjusted one looks really good!

Looks like a flash (or lamp) from the top left, and a flash from directly infront.

Cool pic btw :]

Shalis was closer. happy

Scrap plywood that I cut a hole in. Put one of my 200W lamps in the box, cover the box and turn out the lights. Stick the bowl on top and take pics.

I need to make the top of the board black with paint or paper or something because that's where the brown tint came from in the first pic. I may also build a black backdrop around it just to avoid reflections from the pile of crap in the room. Probably have to use some black cloth. Also considering lining the inside of the box with foil to get more light coming up, but I doubt it'll make much difference.

What I want is a nice bright directional point source of light too instead of just my giant CFL bulbs that end up giving fairly diffuse light.

But the cost was $0 so far and that's very important. happy

Where did you buy that 200W compact fluorescent bulb at and how much? Which spectrum is it (5000k maybe?)?

It was about $17 at Walmart of all places.

It's 4100k.

Edit: Claims to run at 45W consumption. I don't want to leave it on in the closed box for too long, they do warm up eventually.

Ahhhh, its a yellow bulb then (standard type light).

Yeah, nothing like that around our Wal-Mart though.
