With the characteristic HDR halo around the "models".

Now this interests me because I realized I'm paying attention to the photography in this sort of picture and also the idea that HDR may be used in something like that. I doubt it was HDR, but an interesting thought...

HDR's with living subjects are difficult because you need to get whatever/whomever to stay perfectly still for as many seconds as it takes to get all your shots in.

Unless you 'fake' it with raw files.

As for the pic you saw DC I doubt it's HDR, I can't imagine anyone would want to use HDR in an enviroment you can control. (IE. you have full control over shadows/light)

more likely it was a too strong backlight, or perhaps they were using a ringflash, which gives a pretty distictive shadow.

I'm sure it wasn't. It was just an interesting thought to me...

That halo affect can be created through simple heavy handed post processing, I know I've screwed up and done that a few times myself, especially when I was first starting to play with photos.

Also, with auto braceting the exposers three shots take less then a sec, so you should be able to get a HDR with a person easy if they are stationary...

I saw the pics and they were not HDR as the ones in the open (non studio) did not exhibit any HDR effects on the shadows or otherwise.
