From http://www.johnmag4u.com/blog/

Run-time error ‘339': Component ‘mswinsck.ocx’ or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

This error is received when a program created with certain .NET framework
or Visual Studios is run and the computer does not have supporting files.
To fix this problem, you must download and install the required files.
This can be done by downloading this:

Why do you give people links to download windows components from shady sites?

Sorry for helping and for not knowing the exact MS download needed...

That's not a shady site. I did download the small file and run it through the latest
and fully updated Kaspersky. I also provided the full link to the site so that the
end user could visit there and do their own due diligence.

I will avoid helping in your forum in the future, you have my sincerest apologies.

Virindi, I'm with you on this in concern for files coming from a third party source ... thinking

.. but whats more AMAZING is when you can get the needed "files" for FREE from the primary vendor (in this case, Microsoft) .. WHY! take the chance??

Intelligent people might visit the main site the download links to: http://www.ascentive.com

From there, an equally intelligent person might find this link: http://www.ascentive.com/about_us/index.html

At which point an intelligent person would see that this is a very legitimate company that has
"Ascentive is proud to display our status as a Microsoft Certified Partner", and the official
MS Partner logo. For a company that has been around since 1998, an intelligent person might
understand that MS would not for one second let that logo stand if said company was either 'shady'
or in the habit of distributing malware.

I believe an intelligent person might just make the leap that any files in their support section
might just, in fact, be very legit.

I have no idea WTF really both of your problems are, jumping someone who was just trying to help another
end user. While a direct download from MS itself is always preferred, some of their packages are rather
difficult to decipher as to what will fix what. I found a place that said SPECIFICALLY what would fix
that SPECIFIC error that was posted, so I provided a LINK. That's all. A frickin' LINK.

I didn't DEMAND that he download that, it was just an OPTION for him, and one I deemed SAFE or I would
have not bothered.

You guys wanna be good buddy asshats towards people who have the best intentions? bah... go ahead...

My original response stands. While a later response with a direct download works, what I provided was
not the LEAST bit shady. I don't provide shady links.

kthnx

Better not use this "trusted" installer even with XP. No virus or malware, but you get your ( Servicepack 3 or other) MSVBVM60.DLL overwritten.

After libraryfiles.exe installer:

C:\WINDOWSXX\Saved>ls -l MSVBVM60.DLL
-rwx------+ 1 root Kein 1385744 Sep 23 2003 MSVBVM60.DLL

My original:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>ls -l MSVBVM60.DLL
-rwx------+ 1 root Kein 1392671 Jan 13 2006 MSVBVM60.DLL

Both with FileVersion 6.00.9690.

Different sizes and the buggiest thing: If you try to install the files to a different location, they are nevertheless installed to windows\system32.

The full list of installed files:
