Okay, I have made some changes to fix a couple problems, but I had to do a lot internally. To make sure everything is working well, I'm going to post a testing version here so people can try it out and let me know if they have any new issues.

This whole thing started with me trying to fix the bug where the plugin switched back and forth between two weapons over and over, but I ended up rebuilding most of the weapon switching code from scratch. In addition, this build also adds two other things:

- a fix for a problem with melee combat, where if you were attacking with a melee weapon and then immediately switched to casting war spells, it would keep trying to do melee and possibly cast spells by hitting the end key
- quest weapons with a resistance cleaving property act pretty much the same as a player-imbued element rend, so now it treats them the same way when looking for an 'auto' weapon

If you download this version, please go out and use it and let me know how it works out for you. Be sure to use it in scenarios where you are switching weapons a lot, on all three types of chars (melee, missile, mage). If things seem to be okay after people have given this version a workout, I will post it to the main page.

Just a quick reply this morning .. I downloaded 22a last night after reading your post here ..

I got only 45 minutes so far on my sword melee with the release and it looks good so far. Tonight I'll do more heavy testing with my melees and mages.

Actions seem quicker now. Transistion between element weapons is quick. (Not giving the appearance the toon is making up it's mind what to use next.)

If you get a chance, it would be nice if you switched to 22b for any further testing. I did end up changing a bit more than just fletching, so in theory it could be different.

In reality, it is probably not wink

I'll pay attention to arrows and fletching on my TW guy.


I've noticed that functionality-wise, at low levels, it's possible to have a fletching skill great enough to fletch deadlys but not wield them. I know it's controllable by the fletching threshold advanced setting, but fletching could be made smarter by checking base bow stat for wield requirements.

That's an interesting point. I agree that a check should be made. When I wrote it, though, I was sort of assuming that if your base skill wasn't high enough, you wouldn't carry the heads. (not true, I know, but this was a long time ago)

What I messed with with regards to fletching was the action code, not the decide what to fletch code (22b moved fletching from an independent action to one that is called whenever combat code attempts to wield a bow...this also has the side effect of stopping the macro from fletching arrows for your bow when you are not actually in combat). I suppose while I'm at it I might as well just overhaul the whole thing and iron out any issues that arise in one go...

One other strange thing that's happening to me. My escape key stops working after a while using Vtank. I've been testing it as the only plugin loaded, and after a while, escape does nothing.

I'm getting a failure to try and fletch now. My guy just sits there and continuously enters combat mode with no arrows made and no attempt to fletch.

Heh. Well, I just finished rewriting fletching from scratch. I will now be able to post updates to add new arrow types using the gameinfodb update mechanism. I still need to add some sort of mechanism for allowing you to choose which, if any, of the special uber vendor arrows you want to use.

Love the Program.....

Testing it out today with my archer and really like the tweaks so far. Here are the problems I encountered.

--Went to fletch arrows, fletched a bundle, fletched a second bundle (giving me 500 of the same arrow), then went to using them. Usually not a burden problem, except since I am trying to make it switch bows and arrows, it created overburden.

--I went to open a dirty old crate and was given a .net error when the crate opened, was able to alt c out of it by rapidly double clicking the item in the crate and holding and alt c at the sametime. ONCE i had the item I wanted out of it it disappeared.

--The looting is terrible (IMHO) I have tried your editor (both exact matches and not exact matches). For instance I want to pick up all philtres (not caring if it is mana, health or stamina) or tonics etc... Should I type in philtre then uncheck exact and then add it?

I tried it both ways and have been unable to get it to work. I don't know how to go in and edit a loot profile so the interface is a great start. Would it be possible to make it loot steel and then tell it only of 6 or higher quality? Is there a way for it to see a major and loot it? I don't want it to be like the "other" program but I cannot run tings and this one together because tings constantly spams me as vtank checks what I am wearing and how much mana is in it. SO I have no way of seeing if there is a major to grab or not. Also it is not attempting to loot all the corpses around it, only the the last one or two killed.

--Lastly I had this happen three times to me. The target selector would bounce between two targets, not selecting either, so I just sat there doing nothing until I manually dbl clicked or selected a target then it killed and went on it's merry way.

VI, It seems that the combat and archers are the main interest in your update here. (Flame me if I'm worng.)

But while you are working on things, I'd like to add a minor annoyance ...

When I am in the middle of a mob fight and need to modify an attack on a critter via the Monster tab .. I open the VTank panel, click on the Monster tab, click on the critter and then the Add button to add the critter to the list in the Monster tab. That all works great with no problems. Now, presently in that list are 10 or more critters, forcing me to "scroll down" (important point here). When I attempt to modify that critter I just added, the scroll list keeps jumping up on me. Is there any way to keep this list from jumping? (is it refreshing?)??

Again note, this is only during a mob fight. When my toon is off by himself, this list is no problem to work on as it remains static in scrolling and I am able to easily modify the options for the critter.

Like I said, this is a minor thing. But, I figured it was a good time to raise it if you had a moment to look at it's code.

Roo i told her about that almost a year ago and let me explain how she helped

MY list of monsters was WAY too long, over 4 scoll pages down. She suggested that i start using profiles. Like a Profile for VISS, DI150, VOD, Questing, ect, ect ect.

that way the normal one only has the generic one line and the profile for various areas only had the one or two monsters you need settings for in that area. sure you have to switch profiles every now and then but the LIST is way shorter and thus easier to maintain/update.


sometimes it is easier to 'adjust' your procedure/methodology then to wait for code changes!

What type of arrows were you making? From wrapped bundles?

Dirty old crate? Where are those? If you ever see an error like this again it would help if you could copy the contents and post it or send it to me so I know what is going on.

Capitalize "Philtre". Uncheck exact.

Eh, yeah, well...that's probably because you have target lock on. Target lock doesn't work in melee/archer mode at the moment I don't think.

Found and fixed another bug last night. The new database that tracks item buffs was not properly deleting expired ones. So eventually you will start freezing up everytime you cast a buff. Oops! This should fix that:

Now I just need to look and see if I can do more to stop double crafting, then maybe it will be time to release this on the main site.

Edit: oh, I also added some more exception handlers that were missing, so if you are getting a '.net error' try what you were doing before again with this version. If the problem happens again it should generate log data in c:\vtank-error.txt. Just post the last entry in that file after you have the problem.

The banes bug is in .21 too.

Okay...I fixed a possible wield problem that I had introduced a couple days ago, and also now the double craft bug should be fixed. I am going to post this new one as an official release... 0.3.0.22.

This happen after I cleared a mob of critters. My VTank was still running and I was manually looting from corpse to corpse (VTank looting was NOT turned on). After it gave the error in game .. it shut down VTank ... Only to repeat the same thing again (see above).

Since we have two threads of basically the same thing I think I am just going to post to you here and not in both threads happy . Been running .23 for most of the day and wow no problems at all. Your earlier responses and my looking around seems to have fixed everything.

Still think that a "major" identifier when looting would be nice (as previously said I try to use tings but get the spam from my armor. Even if I could filter it through tings, it would do me no good because I would not see the major msg while looting. Also adding salvage loot that one could set not to pick up salvage below a certain grade....

Next question I have a hollow bow and a phantom bow, both need to use chorizite arrows. I have the arrows both unfletched and fletched in my inventory. I added my bows to the weapon/wand/shield list. I was going to try and play with the hollow bow so was setting up a monster for it to use the bow on. It was then that I saw a new setting under damage called harm... is that what I would set it to? Second I cannot select my bow from the list... I have logged and relogged, tried removing and re adding it etc... but it still does not show up in my list of weapons to choose from.

.23 seems to be working pretty well from a mage standpoint.

What setting is loot radius tied to? I noticed on large critters like assailers, they die and fall backwards enough so that they fall outside of the loot radius.

5. This is the maximum distance at which you can open a corpse without having to move your character. Since, above this range, your char is going to have to move anyway, the idea is that you use approach to get to the corpse if you wish to loot at range. When you set approach range, it will run to corpses within approach range to loot them.

If you only want to approach corpses and not monsters, you can set the CorpseApproachRange-Min setting individually. Note: this setting is in landblocks, which are 240 times larger than yards, so take the number of yards you want and divide by 240 to get the appropriate setting value (ie 10 yards = 10/240 = 0.041666 landblocks).

Approach also is only active when navigation is enabled.

Thanks for the detailed explanation on approach range happy

I've seen two errors over the past day or so. The first was red text in the chat window saying that vtank was out of memory (it scrolled by really fast, so sorry I couldn't get the exact message). The second is the run macro button becoming unchecked on it's own which I think is somehow tied to needing to heal and failing to heal. It's as if something unplanned happens and shuts down the macro. It's gotten me killed half a dozen times now, so it wasn't a one time occurrance.

I got the same or similar error though as said above it scrolled by too fast for me to fully read it. Mine also shut down but I'm not sure it had anything to do with healing. With several progams running, it eventually started to lag badly. By itself with no other plugins active it seemed to run slow for my archer. I haven't tested any other type of character yet. I'm not sure but my problems may be due to the video card because my main computer has twice the video memory and runs seven other plugins in addition to v-tank with a mage running. I'll need to test that with an archer and a melee.

Subject: VTank testing version
I definitely get more successful time on the plugin out of my mage than my archer. I don't understand the error message that I have to add a wand to the profile. I did that, and I still get the error and macro stop on my archer.

Thanks for all the work you are doing on vtank.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Can you boost the looting priority? In other words like lifetank, once a crit is killed, the corpse is immediately looted. If you have that option, I don't quite know how to do it. All I can do is wait until all crits within radius are done and then it starts looting

2. On looting, if a crit is far, how do you set the system to run to it and loot?

3. Where is the buff profile? What spells are being cast?

5. I can only use the loot profile outside the system. Is that true? And I don't quite understand all the variable setups. Seems a bit hard. Is there an explanation somewhere?

6. Is there a user manual somewhere? That can solve a bunch of my questions...

7. Is there an option to black;ist bad targets?

8. Mob profile is great. May be great to add wall spells...

1. Not yet. I plan to add that at some point.

2. Set approach range and enable navigation.

3. All creature spells for skills you have trained are cast. Protects and banes can be set by the buffprofile_prots and buffprofile_banes advanced options.

5. Yes. Looting is not in a finished state at the moment; eventually I want it to be easy to use. Right now it is pretty much functional, but difficult for the average person to set up. 7. No. Is there a particular place where you are having that problem? I have discovered that 'bad targets' tend to occur almost exclusively at a small number of places...such as the middle of the pit in PotB and the Moars platform on the vesayens. I plan to look at this more in the future.

8. The problem with wall spells is that they depend on a number of factors...ie, the monster cannot be too close to you, monsters move around and if they are moving toward the wrong thing they may be easily missed, etc. It would be nice to deal with that at some point but it seems like a large obstacle.

I've determined thus far that the plugin is mage friendly. It errors with archers and melees with the out of memory message. It mentioned something about writing the error to some log but I haven't been able to find the log. I don't know if this helps you...hopefully it might nerd

Yeah I think I figured out the memory problem. Strangely enough the .net garbage collector is not being called under some circumstances...so the next version will force the .net GC to collect.

Hi,

for the last 3 days I have been using the plugin with my melee (spear - no magic yet).

It works quite well for me.. no error messages at all. But then it does slow down a bit after 45 minutes or so... generally noticable when done killing 1 creature and moving to the next. Its not a showstopper, but could be a tad faster?

(I actually have NOT tried the plug in with my mage yet...)

7. WELL, YES, I HAVE AN ISSUE WHERE THE MACRO CONTINUES TO HIT THE WALL IF THE CRIT IS RIGHT BEHIND IT AND IT DOES NOT ATTACK A CRIT THAT IS RIGHT NEXT TO IT FOR QUITE SOME TIME. ALSO A TARKET THAT IS ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL, RIGHT ON TOP MAY APPEAR AS VERY CLOSE, THEREFOR THE MACRO FOCUSES ON IT. THOSE ARE TWO AREAS OF THE MACRO I'M FINDING A WEAKENESS IF I CAN CALL IT THAT.

8. I SEE THE PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND

I find the DOJiggle functionality FANTASTIC. Too bad it has to stop to cast when we know already that it is possible to cast by using the SHIFT+XC SHIFT+XZ keys. If I can give a couple of recommendations there: a. Have a set sticky option so the macro self corrects position wise; it currently changes location to the right... b. I do wonder if you can set the speed or the length of the jiggle. I find that it is almost there but not quite as far as evades..c. One other parameter you may find interesting to add is a DOJiggleDistance parameter where if the macro detects a crit within that distance, it continues to Jiggle??? TO give you an example. If you set your Monster range to 5 it stops the jiggle when crits at distances of 40 can bolt you. 4. For healers, it may be helpful to have the macro jiggle if a crit is within a certain range, one other possibility I find very helpfull.

How about for wall spells, if got a certain critter set for using walls VT selects the correct wand and spell and just starts throwing them in direction (without targeting) your facing. Since we are supposed to be at the keyboard while running this would be fine. We could point our character wherever we want the walls to go, manually adjusting as needed. Would be perfect for Col runs I'd think. Would also be nice if had a second button to say for this critter no matter the wand used throw tusker fists if known and have.

Also be real nice if could set up a key (say the PrtScn key) to enable/disable the wall suppost. Thus allowing us to quickly switch from walls to single attacks (again thinking of Col runs) when mobs mostly beat down.

How Long till the "working Non Beta Version will be coming out??

Have you thought about what you and i were talking about Re: Dispelling the Bad spells. Choosing whether you dispell just life or just Critter or DO 'em Both.

Anyways.... Looking forward to your next "working version". If it works anything like the past versions, then we are all in luck. I am looking forward to it.....

Lately I am having a problem with mana charges. Once it uses one it uses them all in quick succession until they are gone, even though all items are charged.

I looked around at the manual and didn't see anything but is there a pause key? instead of opening the GUI to stop the macro, run to another location past mobs and then opening the GUI to start again? Would make it much easier to use in places where I just want to get out of the way without it trying to kill everything on the way.

The pause key on your keyboard. If you run DHS you can set it to something else.

Now that's just too easy...you really should make it something like alt-cntl-f3-shift or something, sheesh...

My problems ended being one of those nifty keyboards that try to cram a lot of funtions on a few keys, with toggle keys to make it happen. So when I hit pause...I got Target Lock-On...had to hit the toggle to get the pause.
