Subject: Dual client problem
I posted this on Dual client board, but thought I would post here as well, to make get more views and the problem I am having.

I have Dual client running on 1 computer, 2 accounts. Works pefect. I have it set to Auto port with the ports between 9000-9013 for each account.

2nd computer running just AC, have port set to 9012 in ac config file, also tried other ports like 9002. When I log on this account it crashes the other 2 AC with Dual Client. If I pick the port myself for example 9005 for one account, and 9008 for the other they log on fine and then after 5 mins I drop 100% packet loss, this on the computer with dual client. Am I doing something wrong? Or something with my router?

Any suggestions how to fix this?

Thanks

Use a port above 9013.

ACDualClient allocates ports in groups of 5. a range set up as 9000-9013 will actually attempt to use 9000-9014 because of this...

9000-9004, 9005-9009, 9010-9014.

I'd recommend setting the other PC to use 9015 or higher for this very reason.

hi D (don't reember how the whole name is spelled so capped it)

I've had AC-DC working well on 4 comptuers no complaints. BUT recently last week or two, with nothing added to the one comptuer that i can recall, one is misbehaving.

if i go to launch a 2nd or 3rd instance/account i get a strange message (can't open the data files. check that they exist and that you have permission to write to them. the program will now exit).

if i close the error notice and click on ac-dc icon and this time click on Find Path button, account will proceed/open without problems.

no changes that i see to ac-dc 7.2.2 were made nor do any of the options/set seem to differ from the other 3 computers/configs. So why suddenly do i have to now push Find Path on this one computer?

and no it isn't too difficult, time consuming or annoying. THE annoying part is NOT remembering to click it on this comptuer and thus wasting the time for the error to come up and then restart the log in again (human error in not compensating for known issue with work around, ie dummie at the keyboard).

close and re-open ACDualClient?

Make sure Polling, Hooks, and Filter are all enabled in the Options. Also make sure the Polling timer is set to something short if you log in the accounts quickly after each other.

Polling is supposed to basically be clicking the Find Path button automatically for you. But if it is set to something like 10 seconds, then you have the possibility of trying to log in without it managing to find the alternate paths first.

The error itself that you're getting is because it is trying to use the same path more than once, and that isn't allowed. That is why finding a new path solves the issue.

"Quickly" is the problem.

you're launching before the other one has been fully launched and detected most likely.

Polling only works by detecting what has been opened, and only at intervals based on the timer setting.

NO, the other is still open, minimized to char select screen.

what i'm quickly trying to open is another account. not close account two and open account 3. so my wording is missleading you.

not closing a decal instance and trying to open again.

nope account one is open, and i need a portal off account 2. so i rush to open account 2 and don't hit the find path (cause i'm in a rush) so of course i get the message and have to start all over again, delaying me even farther (my fault).

IF i go slow and remember to hit find path there is no trouble.

of course just recently i ran into toruble trying to open account with some kind of ac message like sever not found close and try again in a few minutes but on any of the other 3 i could open an account and not get that silly message. So i rebooted the computer and ac-dc is again working = bottom line i suspect xp after running for several weeks got hosed and it wasn't ac-dc.
