I am running the version 1.7.0.894
the problem I am having is I cannot set a wand for some reason

Always ensure we're using the Set Wand when casting - is checked
"Castaway: Always use set wand now enabled."

when I click on my Drudge Scrying Orb and hit Set Wand, this is what I get

Castaway: Setting your default wand to equipped wand:

no wand is recognized =/

any ideas as to fix this ?

I assume you tried re-equipping the wand and/or relogging?

As a test I removed the entry for my wand in botconfig.xml, fired up AC and was able to set my wand in Castaway without any issues.

So Castaway can't either get the guid of the wand you have equipped or it may have issues writing to the xml file.

Try equipping another wand and see if you can set that. If you can then there is an issue for someone reason with that orb. If you still can't then check the write permissions on the botconfig.xml file for that character.

yes I have that message happening, I have tried 3-4 different wands now

I'm running Win XP

Post an export in look in the Castaway log files for any error messages surrounding these events.

so far I have this error in my log folder

ReloadXMLFiles() Error: 91, Object variable or With block variable not set, Loc: Re-Loading C:\Program Files\CastAway\Settings\Leafcull\Red Scourger\BotSettings.xml

I've looked in my BotSettings but cannot find the line for error 91

Hmmm...

That isn't the correct location for the XML files. None of them should be under Program Files anymore. Uninstall Castaway, delete the Castaway folder under Program Files, and try re-installing using the file from this location: http://www.buwahaha.com/CastawayBot/release/CastAway.msi

okay, I un-installed and re-installed to that route,
My Documents/Castaways

went IG and tried the wand again and still nothing but the same error

so I don't know =/

Also, in My Documents\Castaway\Logs\, what does the log file there say? Then check in the world\character folder for any error logs to see what they say.

Hmm, nothing jumping out at me..

Try disabling all other plugins and see what happens. So far I can't reproduce this issue.

I am having the same problem.. It seems like it is not wanting to read the default botsettings.xml . I tried clean installs, updating the xml program.

Good news for me is that I have 2 out of 3 running Castaway correctly ... but that third one .. cry

I presently own 5 computers which have AC running on them. I have been playing AC since June 2000 and have used Decal utilities for 8 years. And I have been using Castaway since 2002 I believe (cant remember when I started thinking ).

nerd Three of the clients have Castaway installed. Two are fresh installs today. One of those never had Castaway on it before (XP Pro SP3 client was reimaged 6 months ago) and Castaway works correctly on it. The other is a three year old with XP Media Center SP3, which had a (unsuccessfully used) Castaway 1.7.0.851 installed. I uninstalled the old and installed a freshly downloaded 1.7.0.894. This client resembles this thread.

nerd The base problem seems to be accessing the base and/or toon XML files. The files do exist. I compared them via "Beyond Compare" to the files on the good client (XP Pro above) and found no differences in content and placement.

nerd No base info is populated in any of the fields on any of the Castaway panels IG, when AC/Decal/Castaway is started up. Manually filling in the options and fields are not saved when exiting the AC client session.

plain Per the thread, "MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK" was (re)installed and the same results happen.

nerd Note : Again, this is based on a Castaway 1.7.0.894 installation. There was a previous Castaway 1.7.0.581 installed on this client that was uninstalled before installing this version on this client.

My guess is that it has to be with MSXML. Try downloading this file and see what happens. Make sure AC and Decal are not running when you install the file.

 Subject: Castaways help needed
I downloaded the file, asked if i wanted to remove or repair, i removed it and once that was done, I went ahead and ran the setup file again, installed just fine. Had ac and decal both closed, --- same thing :/

The plugin just dont like me i guess happy

I am begining to think if it is a system setting, or its having a hard time reading in the my documents folder.. is it possible you could have it look into a folder like C:\Castaway\Settings\ect? and let me try that maybe? Not sure if it would be easy or not to hard code a path like that.

I am thinking it might have something to do with the windows profiles? Im not sure.. this account is setup as a admin..

If it is having a hard time reading your document folder then you have bigger issues. happy A control isn't being loaded in Castaway, which means it isn't installed or installed incorrectly on your system. I'll browse through the code and see if anything jumps out at me. The XML was the obvious one to try.

I appreciate your help on this. I was not expecting you to fix this as much as I was expecting some clues of what to look at.

I do agree that something up on on reading and writing to the documents folder (XMLs). This works correctly on my other computers here.

Can you clarify for me .. do you believe its a code item from the castaway.dll? .. or is it something to do with the MSXML runtime not functioning as expected?

I'll look at it again this weekend and run Process Monitor (procmon.exe from Microsoft) to see whats happening when the attempts to write occur.

Well, my guess is that the DLL is trying to call an object that doesn't exist on your system. The first guess was around the XML stuff, but it could be something else too.

hmm, looks liek I am not alone here with the errors. everything Roogon has posted is what I have still. I've retired everything that I could think of form your info here Maddy.

There used to be a couple other buffbot programs in the past but now it's only Casataways, which sadly won't work for me sad
