posting this here I orginally posted it as a reply on the parenting boards but I thought it was well worth posting here as well.

Take the time now to write down all those family recipes, or better yet send anyone who has a family traditional recipe to write it down on a recipe card and mail it to you. Heck you could even send out the cards with a postage paid return envelope. I am sooooooo thankful I took the time a few years back (I wont say how many years) to do this. I now have a recipe box stuffed full of family recipes that I can pass on. I am working on putting together a disk full of these recipes that I am going to hand out to whom ever wants one. I am scanning the recipes so they can see them in the original handwritting.

I am also adding in a log of sorts of the times that I remember having that particular dish and why it is special. I only wish I had thought of taking pictures of the family member holding the dish to go with the recipe, as many of these people have now passed on. I am working on getting pictures now of those who are left.

If you can film them making the recipe that would be a cool treasure to have for kids and grandkids
