Subject: Quest Timer spamming time-out error
Around 4:00 p.m. CST I started receiving the following message regarding Quest Timer.

19:16:20 <{ Quest Timer }> Error #5 occurred in tm_Timeout: Invalid procedure call or argument @ line 374 [v2.4.0.2]

I tried logging on with another computer and I get the same message. It is occurring every second. It was suggested that I reinstall, but it's happening on multiple machines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Grippin

Open errors.txt in the Quest Timer folder and paste it here. If it's really long, you can cut out the lines with the identical error to the one you posted above, but be sure to leave any other errors in.. they're the ones I need to see.

Also, open Decal, click export, and include that in your post.

I just found out that this is only happening with one character and it's the same character on both computers.

Thanks,

Ah. Then in that case you're seeing the same bug that a few other people have had:
http://vnboards.ign.com/ac_utilities/b5432/107829817/p1/?13

Unfortunately I haven't figured out what causes it, and apparently it goes away on its own. The other people who've had this problem say it affects plugins other than quest timer as well. Is that the case for you too?

Post a decal export anyways, maybe something will pop out.

To troubleshoot, try disabling all plugins except quest timer, and all third party filters (generally they're the ones that don't have the same version number as Decal). You'll need to completely exit AC to disable filters. See if you still get the error when only Quest Timer is running.

I also noticed that BuffMe was mis-reporting time left on buffs. It also didn't properly display the default profile. I had disabled Quest Timer at this point. After selecting the desired profile and running the macro I logged off, enable Quest Timer and logged back in. Surprise! Quest Time was again working properly. At this point I don't know if a Decal Export will be useful. However, if something like this happens again I will capture that data as well.

Thanks for the effort in any case! This is a nice plugin that really helps me keep track of what I can do and when I can do it.

Thanks,

Grippin

I got that same error with spamming.
Only thing I can think of that was different was I used one of the Deck of Cards on that character. (ie deck of eyes or hands spell)
so that might be related to it.

I got that error a bunch of times. I dont know what fixes it either. Basically I just have to keep logging in and out until it finally stops.

If you can find a reliable way to reproduce it, it'll go a long ways towards fixing the bug. But considering that it seems to affect multiple plugins, I'm guessing that the bug is in Decal itself, which isn't going to be updated until the New View System is complete.

I think Joxer has it. I logged in with Decal on and my cooldown timer on my GY decks was running and I was getting the spam. So I waited IG until they finished, logged out and back in and no spam. So I'm guessing it has to do with the cooldown timers.

Quest Timer doesn't do anything directly related to buffs. The problem appears to be caused by the plugin not initializing properly. This leads me to believe that Decal has some issues with the new buffs that's somehow screwing up the plugin initialization. I don't have an AC account, or the time, to debug this in the near future, so unless someone else decides to try and figure it out, it sounds like you're just going to have to live with it =\.

I got the same error from quest timers and logged out and back in to try and fix it, and couldnt get it to fix, so i just turned off Quest Timers, i log back in game and my dam Life tank is spaming me BS and not working correctly, I try my other chars it works just fine on them. So i start doing what everyone else did, uninstall/reinstall all plugins ect..ect...Still wont work on my main....So i go to the Lifetank forums, post there, then come here post and start looking up problems peeps having trying to find an answer, GUESS WHAT! its the same dam problem!

How i fixxed mine.

Turned back on Quest timers and all my normal plugins, and logged in game......out of game....in game.....out of game....and the third time i log in, No error from Quest timers, no error from Lifetank, everything works perfect again. i dont know wtf happend but i think its somthing in quest timers error that mess's with other decal plugins that you are running on the char of the time of error. Just my two sence guys, hope everyone gets there stuff working again.

Digero, I think you're right about the initializing thing; there's cooldown information in the login data that wasn't there before. It broke decal altogether before I amended the messages.xml to account for it. Not sure why that's affecting Quest Timer though; is the source on your website still current? If so, I'll have a check.
