Subject: Homemade strawberry syrup.
store i work at has strawberries on sale this week for $1.28/lb, so i grabbed a pound on my way home along with some ice cream.

rough chopped the berries, then put them in the blender for a few seconds. added a dash of salt, splash of lemon juice, then sugar until it tasted good...probably about half a cup. boiled it for maybe 5-10 minutes until it was reduced by a little more than half, then chilled.


was so good over the vanilla ice cream. i might have to buy some more tomorrow.

Fred, most times when I reduce something the color changes a bit. Does the red of the strawberry get a deeper shade of red? I guess more like a maroon or does it hold pretty well?
