Subject: Alinco causing massive slowdowns?
Heyas,

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced Alinco causing immense slowdowns when scanning corpses - and when entering housing communities? It pretty much freezes AC for about 20-30 seconds when I go to a largish house cluster. When scanning corpses, it starts off quite quick after I first log on, but then starts to gradually degrade until it takes about five seconds to scan a corpse that has four or five items on it - and everything comes to a screeching halt while it scans.

Tried reinstalling it, tried having it as the only plugin running, tried uninstalling everything else - always run into the same issue. I've pretty much isolated it into Alinco being the culprit.

Running Decal 2.9.6.0, Alinco 1.5.0.0, Alinco X Filter 1.5.0.0 on an Athlon 64X24400, 8800GTS, 2GB of Ram, Win XP Pro (32 bit) Sp2.

All of the scanning style plugins will hiccup when entering an area with a lot of items in it.

Even if your system has a lot of horsepower this will be an issue.

Alinco is particularly slow, both in detection and in general running. I tried using it for awhile, and it brought my machine to a crawl just walking around town.

Ahh, ok. Coming from Virindi I take that as an encouraging sign that there's nothing wrong with me or my computer. tongue

Virindi, I'd love it if vTank had an option for just detecting and then looting/usting on demand - that is, by keypress. It's really annoying to have it running with combat mode off and have it go loot corpses while you still have nasties on you...

Try using the previous version of Alinco; I know it changed developer in the last release, it's possible something's changed that probably shouldn't have been.

I do not trust the 'new' developer of Alinco, and would not run any software from his website. I have Alinco 1.4.9.9.

Yeah, me neither. I dunno if it's the fact that he's 'released' a 'tank' plugin that's actually just a renaming of LTx (possibly with some minor changes, there's no way I'm installing it to find out), or maybe because he's hosting plugins that aren't his own without permission or acknowledgement, or perhaps because he's asked for the source of one of my plugins already, claiming 'I would always give credit where it is due', which clearly isn't the case.

Either way, 'developers' like that are the reason I won't release the source of any of my plugins.

Hey! No hijacking my thread! angry

tongue

Is there something else that would loot and ust by detection and detect monsters by name? VirindiTank does what I want, but like I said it's obnoxious in non-combat mode when it loots midfight. FindIt detects and loots, but does not ust (or else the usting does not work for me, not sure which)... Any other options?

I'm actually planning on adding these into AC+, but meanwhile Alinco v1.4.9.9 does the job without too many problems.

To avoid slowing down too much you have to be VERY aggressive in filtering what items get a full ID sent. I don't know how well other plugins do this, but it is an area I spent a good deal of thought with in Find It!.

And now that I finally read enough forum posts to find out about the ust strings, FindIt does exactly what I want. <3

Yeah, Ust strings were a good idea gone bad. They gave ultimate flexibility but were so unlike the UI of anything else nobody understood them.

I'm thinking of going to a single number. Anything below it gets usted into a single bag (assuming it meets the minimum level to loot), anything above it gets usted into level specific bags.

I.e. I have steel minimum set to 5, and ust level to 9. Levels 5-7 get put in a single bag, 8 gets combined with other 8s, 9 with other 9s and 10 with other 10s.

Hey now, I really liked the idea of ust strings. I thought maybe I'd eventually add them to vtank...

AM i reading that wrong, if min was set to 5 wouldn't 1-5 be slagged together, and 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 put into single bags only combined with others of the same grade.

OR is it a typo and the UST to level 9 SHOULD have read 7 and then translates to pick up work 5+, slag 5, 6 and 7 together and only combine 8, 9 and 10 with like bags?

No - ust strings are an excellent idea documented horribly. wink

Now that I know how to use them, they're perfect. Don't get rid of them, just improve documentation.
