Subject: Help with Decal.
Everything was working perfectly until the latest patch. Now when I portal recall or portal anywhere, I get redlinked. Is anyone else having this issue or know a fix for it. I have tested all plugins and filters, it happens even with just Decal on and all plugins off. I can play fine with decal off.

Firewall, ports, ips are all set correctly. I have reinstalled AC, and Decal already.

try with No Filters and No Plugins.

If that works, then start enabling the Filters one at a time

Keep going until all Filters are enabled, then move to Plugins.

The last thing you enabled would most likely be your problem. Try disabling everything except that one thing and see if it still causes a problem. If so, report it as it is causing issues.

Already tried that, couldn't even get ingame with out the filters on, was able to get in with just the AC CORE filter on, but couldn't with it off. Would just stay in portal space till it red linked out. I then tried with the core on and one by one turned the others on(so only ac core and 1 filter was on at a time), but same thing, i would redlink out.

That makes no sense at all.

There is nothing in the ACDC Core Filter that would assist or deter you being able to get ingame.

I think you've got symptoms of another problem. Likely network related.

It sounds way too random and not tested enough to draw conclusions about what does and what does not work

I thought it was network related at first, but everything worked fine until the patch on tuesday. But I will check again on ports, ip addresses to make sure. I have not had any problems though with decal turned off.

I did change the same day to a netgear router, but made sure all my settings were correct. I use to have a belkin, but had problems with stability.

Since putting in the netgear, the bot stays in fine, it is when i recall him to the house, marketplace, or anywhere else I get booted.

Wait... you changed your router on the same day as patch day, and now that your AC doesn't exactly work right, you assume it is Decal related?

Since my bot is able to stay online, without being booted since patch, I am assuming that the router is working fine. The only time any of my chars get redlinked is when I recall somewhere. Could the router being causing this?

It's possible that a router/network issue could cause that.

It is also possible that a corrupt cell.dat could cause that.

Perhaps you want to try renaming your current client_cell.dat file and let AC build a new one.

I can try that, but it is happening to 3 different machines, that is why I ruled that out. I can put the old router back in, and test things tonight, if it doesn't redlink then I know it is a router issue, if it does redlink I will keep plugging away till I find the issue.

These are all facts that would have been nice to know in your initial post.

If you get the same issue on 3 PCs then chances are almost certain (95%) that your issues are network related and most likely related to you changing your router. Decal alone would not cause this kind of problem across 3 different machines.

Ok, i changed out the router back to the old one, it seems to be working fine. Now, how do i get the new Netgear to work properly? It is a much better router, but seems to have an issue with the game. All the ports were set correctly and ip addresses. Is there something I missed?

It is a Netgear WGT624 v3

Oh, thanks Drakier for your assistance so far. I was pretty sure it couldn't be the router due to it being new and since I could stay logged in for days at a time, but only being booted when portalling.

I did test the belkin again, was able to portal recall 7 or 8 times with success. With the netgear if I was lucky 3 portal recalls before getting booted.

I think it's time to create a new thread with a new title .. like "Problem with Router" (!) .. so you can ingage the right folk in helping you out.

Yes, I seen the same problem as yours on a Netgear router I had. After a couple of months of trying to fix mine, I traded in for a new model to fix the problem.

The best thing to do in this case (based on that link) is to use ACDualClient and set the AutoPort to separate port ranges. Then match those ranges in your Router setup.

For example. You say you have 3 PCs. Lets call them Comp1, Comp2, and Comp3.

Comp1 has the following settings:
Static IP: 192.168.1.10
ACDC SPort: 9000
ACDC EPort: 9005
Router Port Forward: 9000-9009

Comp2 has the following settings:
Static IP: 192.168.1.11
ACDC SPort: 9010
ACDC EPort: 9015
Router Port Forward: 9010-9019

Comp3 has the following settings:
Static IP: 192.168.1.12
ACDC SPort: 9020
ACDC EPort: 9025
Router Port Forward: 9020-9029

These settings assume you want to have 2 clients running on each PC. ACDualClient is configured to use 5 ports per client. Since we only support 9000-9009, then you get 2 clients on that PC, same with 9010-9019 and 9020-9029

If you want to have 3 or more clients able to run on the same PC, then you'll need to adjust the port ranges, but at least this will give you an idea of how to do it.

I had the port forwarding set correctly, but for some reason, when I recalled somewhere I redlinked. Can't explain it, that is the only reason I figured it was a decal issue. Of course, I was incorrect. Still don't know why the router has this issue though. As long as I don't portal somewhere I was fine, but as soon as i died or portaled, redlinked.
