This one is pretty self-explanatory. It fetches a list of available plugins (all plugins, not just my plugins) and compares it against the ones you currently have installed. Basically, it's like the one in Decal except that it works and the plugin list is current. Here's an action shot:

The utility is available for download on my website:

My own website. I've had the list up there for awhile, and been updating it. As far as I can tell it is the most current list available.

Why? Decal can already do everything this can, and would if it's own list was up to date. If you felt there was a need for this, why didn't you suggest/ask for decal to be updated rather than go to all this effort? Maybe we might have said 'sorry, too busy right now', but you didn't even ask.

Between asheron.info, dereth.info, ACVault, CoD and decal itself, there's already plenty plugin lists around, I don't think yet another is necessary.

Decal's utility does not work for .net plugins. I'm sure it may in the future, but who knows when that will be.

>> Between asheron.info, dereth.info, ACVault, CoD and decal itself, there's already plenty plugin lists around, I don't think yet another is necessary.

All of the above mentioned lists are updated infrequently and are missing multiple plugins. The lists on the Vault and builtin to Decal are not even real lists, with just a handful of listed plugins. A list like this is only as good as it is updated frequently, and nobody else has done that.

In addition, none of the other lists contain enough information to generate a full decalplugins.xml file.

The wiki on asheron.info and yaroz's list on dereth.info ARE being updated, and mostly have been with as much information as plugin devs bother to share. Anything that's not on these lists is either new, obsolete, no longer works, or in the case of the wiki, the plugin author hasn't bothered to updated it yet. I update it myself when I get a chance inbetween studying for exams, but there's no reason anybody else can't do the same.

I'm sorry, but claiming 'nobody else has done that' is a bit rude considering the effort yaroz and I have put in keeping these lists up to date. dereth.info is recognized by Turbine as an official fan site, and is the only list that should be considered the most current list available until yaroz makes an announcement to the contrary. Only the wiki may potentially be more up to date if the plugin author has updated it before yaroz has had a chance to update dereth.info.

BTW, yaroz, put a 'notify of an plugin update' button somewhere on the website, huh? happy Or better yet, a way for plugin devs to update it.

In my opinion, relying on plugin developers to submit updates to plugin lists is a flawed methodology.

I suggest other people compare the lists themselves and draw their own conclusions, rather than relying on what is "officially recognized by Turbine" or whatever. That plugins are missing from the lists that you cited that DO work is a fact.

a lot better than a website, imo

edit:
only thing that could make it better, if it doesnt already do it, is have a description of the plugin on mouseover

If you can show me a flawless one, I'll be more than impressed. As far as I can tell, yaroz has been keeping dereth.info up to date exactly the same way as you, and ANYONE can update the wiki, not just the author of the plugin.

>> That plugins are missing from the lists that you cited that DO work is a fact.
So? There's some missing from yours as well. However, take EmoteButler and NinjAlert for example- as far as I know, they've never been advertised or announced anywhere. You can't criticize a list for not being complete if nobody tells you there's something missing from it, especially if it's a wiki, and you're more than capable of updating it yourself.

Lol, why would you want to go to 4 different places to check for ALL the updates for plugins?

Why do you seem angry that Virindi made a helpful tool that lists plugins for just about every plugin available? all in ONE spot.. oh yea, not only that, but it checks to see if you have the latest version in a easy to read manner.

btw, I made a suggestion a long time ago for the decal devs to update the list, I forgot what their answer was, but as you can tell, they havent done anything about it

Huh? You think 5 is better? There's no guarantee that this list will be any more up to date than the wiki or dereth.info, all three are dependent on somebody updating them manually.

> Why do you seem angry
Because I don't like someone telling everyone nobody's been keeping a list up to date when both myself and others have been doing exactly that. It's like spending hours cooking a meal, only to find out your family have ordered pizza while you were in the kitchen.

Well, it's not just ones that were never announced.

One example: WinampController. It is on nobody's list now, but it WAS on the original ACHeaven page. Oh, and it still works and I know people who still use it.

Look: I'm not trying to say your list is worthless or anything. What I AM trying to say is that I saw what I believed to be room for improvement, so I decided to see what I could do. My goal here really has nothing to do with you...I simply thought this would be a help to people.

Don't get me wrong, it's a useful tool, in fact I'll probably use it until Decal's working again.

My only problem is a) claiming nobody else has been keeping lists up to date when we clearly have, and b) claiming that your list is kept any more up to date than anybody elses. That might be true right now, but it's far from guaranteed.

When I took over the acheaven data, I migrated all of the data from the "working" list and visited each of the websites. If the data was not there, then I did not include it in the database. I update the page, whenever I see any announcement on these boards, or when I get PM's on my site or emails. I've updated quite a few, when the author's notify me.

However, I do think this would be a good program to have. I was just wondering who was keeping a good list and checking all of the websites themselves.

And yes, I need to finish up that portion of the website. I'd like to get screenshots of the plugins and everything.. I've just gotten a ton of work since I put that in there. I'll try to work on some of the stuff in the next few weeks.

Well, as far as databases go, the program itself reads from an xml file with the same format as Decal's decalplugins.xml. If anyone else wants to set up a page on their site that generates such an xml, I would add a series of option boxes to the program to allow the user to select different databases.

heh.. I'd have to figure out how to do xml files (which I plan to figure out eventually, but it's not too high on my list of things to do yet).

harrass Virindi for his list not having a link to Virindi Tank.

shows you JUST how difficult it is to maintain a list of current plugins when the list doesn't even include one of the author's plugins!

Huh? My list includes Virindi Tank, and it has the whole time. On the other hand, nobody else has a link to it...though I didn't really want to raise that, because it is my own plugin and I didn't want anyone to get the mistaken impression that I was unhappy over that.

is there a way 4 you to ADD a method to indicate for the rebuff cycle to buff only certain weapons?

mage with a ton of wands, and i'm off killing diamond golems. sure hate buffing the other 14 wands NOT NEEDED. or in the EO and need acid/bludge and it's a waste of time to buff the other 13. ect.

I don't want to delete all the wands from the items list and then re-add them when i move to a place where they are more needed.

k, thanks.

That website almost seems to be passing off one of my plugins as their own. I don't like it...people should download from my page, not somebody else's copy of my plugin.

I certainly never gave anyone permission to redistribute the plugin.

I'm not going to link to such a site.

V-I i won't contradict or argue with you, as i'm not sure which site you are referring to when you say they are trying to pass off one of yours as theirs.

Of the link i Posted it is merely, FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, a table of links to the author's home pages for the downloads. letting folks, or attempting, know of the lastest version releases.

Yeah...

If I didn't know better, judging on that page alone, I would think Virindi Follower was written by "Portal".

Nowhere on the page does it give proper credit, or even "link" to the plugin or it's homepage. It is mirrored, and based on the page layout and information present, it can be assumed he is taking credit for the plugin as "his".

You should NEVER mirror/host a plugin unless you have permission from the author, and you should ALWAYS give the proper credit and disclosure of the plugin information so that people cannot be confused.

Bad form Portal.

Thank you Virindi

I love the VMT that you have put out - if indeed you did put this out - and i just discovered it this last week. That makes selling loot sooooooo much easier and way less mouse clicks involved. You saved my wrists for sure.

Gonna check out this new one you have....

Edit...i dont know who does VMT now..not on your page...but thanks to the author though nonetheless

Installed this on my new puter with Vista Premium Home 64 and is showing I have no plugins installed. I have VT, Radaraddon/Minimap installed but it doesn't see them as being installed. Could this be cause Decal installed its self in C:Program files (X86) folder and not in C:Program Files folder?
