Subject: Any1 into the DJ business? [Virtual DJ]
I have the Virtual DJ program for the PC and I can't figure out which cable plug I need to buy to connect to my PCs audio output so I can make my Headphones and my main stereo system work as individual audio so I make my mixes.

Edit:
I just bought a an addapter plug 1/8" with 2 stereo outputs so I would connect main audio and headphones, but that just make the sound come out of headphones and main steroe at the same time.

I'm a DJ (http://www.djmedieval.com) so I'm fairly qualified to answer this question.

I don't know VDJ (I use a package called Ableton Live for live play) but what you need is two separate audio outputs, such as a second sound card or a USB/firewire interface that has more than one stereo pair.

I find using pure software for live play to be pretty lame (because it's far easier for me to use hardware for the mixing fundamentals like EQ/faders/headphone mix than manipulating software controls,) so what I would recommend is that you get an M-Audio FastTrack Pro and a basic 2-channel mixer.

Connect the FastTrack Pro up and assign one of your decks to stereo pair one, assign the other deck to stereo pair two. Then connect the two stereo pairs out from the FastTrack Pro to your mixer, and connect your headphones to your mixer as well.

You can do basically the same thing without a hardware mixer, assigning one output to cue (headphones) and one output to master, but then you'll have to mix with your software.

Either way, you're going to need a second output.
