Subject: AC Explorer - ACXServ Memlocs?
Anyone able to provide me with info about how to update calibration from the ACXServ these days using AC Explorer map program. Id like to get tracking to work again.. It seems Dereth Explorer no longer updates and the corrupted files wont let DE to even open up anymore. If anyone can even post an updated url to recent DE data files would be great too even. I have found changing DE map from .png to .bmp for ACExplorer provides and updated map and the places I have found a sticky on how to update to recent ACExplorer places. The one thing I wasn't able to find was the settings I should use for calibrating ACXServ these days.

I read in a few other posts that automatic and manual ACXServer calibration methods might not work and I would have to provide an overridden calibration which it asks for:

Location:
Offset:
Heading:

Which could churn out to be anything, I have noticed Dereth Explorer(DE) memlocs have been posted but I am wondering the settings needed for ACXServ.

Thanks,
- Soul of Leafcull

Thanks, I will definitely try using DServ with AC Explorer tonight. Thanks for that advice, I believe (DE) has a corrupt database it is corrupt while trying to be updated. If anyone can still post a url to last/latest working (DE) data base files. I wonder if we can resurrect some appz back to life.

Opening http://www.direlands.net/deupdate/Update.aspx?version=0.3.0.0
No proxy will be used
Download error: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
---

Both downloading (DE) and getting updates for it doesn't seem to work anymore. Which is why I am wondering if anyone has updated database files for it and can post it. It still a great program while I still have it installed. If anyone else needs the link to the installer. I still have only the original installer laying around if anyone else needs it. It includes the old original database files and should have DServ included with this setup file.

hosted for now at my webhost, for anyone who still
needs it or can save this file for future references.

I don't think DE was ever updated to be compatible with the new database format that CoD switched to a while back.

I can provide my DE database files if you need them.
The ones that look newer than the ones in DEInstall_0.3.0.0.msi are:

barriers.xml 5k 9/9/2006
data_cod.xml 3,303k 5/19/2007
data_spedia.xml 2418k 5/19/2007 (data may be frozen from an earlier date?)
dungeon_ids.csv 24k 10/18/2006
dungeonmap.dat 509k 9/9/2006
heightdata.dat 1021k 9/9/2006
quests.xml 95k 5/19/2007

My map is dereth.png 3925k 9/9/2006, the rest of the files in the map folder are from 6/21/2006

If it works, I wouldn't mind hosting it as a mirror on my site if need be. If you could make a zip file of your Data folder and post the url of your zip file through rapidshare.com or some other free web host I would be most grateful to download it and give that a try. Thanks! :-)

The files are at: http://rapidshare.com/files/91068795/DerethExplorerData.zip.html
It's about 10M, mostly due to the .png map files. You should be able to just drop these files into the DE install directory and be updated to 5/19/2007. If anyone else has more current data files, please share.

Thanks for hosting it.

Oops, I meant drop the files in the DATA folder under the default install folder.
The file we really need that's newer that 5/19/07 is data_cod.xml
I'm not sure when CoD made the data format change that broke DE updater, but I don't think it was much after that.

You know that if it is proper XML, you can easily just use XSLT to transform the XML into any other format you want (including transformed XML)?

That's the beauty of XML. Find the current format, then find the format you want, then create an XSLT file to do the translation for you. Done!

Drakier,

You mention XSLT as being easy. I was thinking I was going to find a GUI utility for conversion of the CoD XML over to the present format used by DE ..... But I didn't find that. hypnotized

Teel me if I am wrong, but I found that the XSLT was a process that needed coding .. and not a utility that needed mapping. nerd

This is not as easy as you said. Or it may be the case where you are the only one that can code the XSLT while the rest of us scatch our heads ..... confused

XSLT is a language as any other language. If you know the language, then it is "easy" to you. Doesn't mean that it is difficult for others.

That said, XSLT was DESIGNED to transform XML documents into anything else. You can translate them into TXT files, HTML files, other XML files, etc. The whole purpose behind it was to TRANSFORM the XML.

Did you look up the definition of XSLT? Did you even Google search it?

Let me give you a hint. XSLT stands for XML Stylesheet Language Transformation. (XSL being XML Stylesheet Language, and T being the Transformation of the XSL)

You have to create the Transformation yourself. Or at least SOMEONE has to create it. Then it can be run on the XML Document that is create to be transformed into what you want. As I said before.. that's the beauty of XML. It is mutable.

You gave me more then I bargin for in a answer. Thank you for answering so quickly.

And I did Google it. Which was the reason for my response.

The new question is ...

Is there anyone who can write a program in XSLT scripting, who would be interested in creating a script for the CoD XML conversion to the needs for the DE XML (AC database) file?
