deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least

signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.

I have already read some other posts about this but the solutions offered have not worked for me. I have Vista but Decal has been working fine for the past couple months, then after this last patch it stopped working. I had been using Dual Client but I even uninstalled this in desperation to get Decal/Lifetank working and still it hasn't helped. I did a complete uninstall/reinstall after removing ACDC and Decal actually showed up in AC (although Lifetank was not functional at least I could finally see the Decal panel again). But then I goofed and hit the update button (I read a post advising we use the DecalUtil.exe instead of the update button in DenAgent.) and after that all the plugins had red x's in the boxes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling once more... *sigh* no change.
There are still red x's in DenAgent and no Decal panel in game. This is the error msg I get when I turn on Decal (I always right click and run as Admin.). The msg:
"The client version does not match the XML version, this may cause some plugins to malfunction. (xmldoc=C:\Program Files\Decal 3.0\memlocs.xml client version=0.0.12.2026 xml version0.0.12.2007) Updating your XML files will correct this problem. Would you like to update now?"
Now initially I would click yes to update... but that was unhelpful and then I read about the Net2.0 Framework issue and that we should use the DecalUil.exe for updating, which I did afterward and still same problem.
I should also mention that I went to http://decal.acasylum.com/updatelist/ and manually downloaded the xml files replacing the existing ones... didn't help a bit.
Can someone please help me get this going? I really want to use Lifetank and Mule It/Trade It. I would *GREATLY*HUGELY*ENORMOUSLY appreciate your help... THANK YOU!!!!!

OH! ALSO.... I noticed that in the export it says Decal FileService has no version... I should mention that in the DenAgent in the list of plugins, there is absolutely nothing under the File Filters category and I know there used to be. I think when I first started having problems I removed everything in the list thinking that when I reinstalled Decal it would all be replaced with a newer version or something and so I guess I screwed that up because now nothing at all in that category.... oops... I'm a moron, I admit it.

The problem for your particular issue is that your XML file is old. You need to click Update in decal and get the latest memlocs. Hopefully then you will be correctly updated. DecalUtil is just another alternative.
It isn't that you shouldn't use Update and use DecalUtil instead... it is that clicking Update too early on patch day can cause a "Cache" of data, and then you won't be able to get the updated version when it is actually posted because you'll keep getting the old cached version. You're still supposed to be using Update for most purposes.
DecalUtil is just a different way to "update" but I believe DecalUtil has to be in the proper Decal folder for it to work right.
Edit:
you also have WAY too many "~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" things at the bottom. It is pushing the width of your post out of whack. Simply putting "~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" would be more than sufficient.

oops... didn't realize my "~~~~~" did that... I thought it looked ultra wide and now I know why...
But hey, didn't I already tell you I'm a moron?
(And I'm already embarrassed that you used my lame-o "fix" as a sticky on your site - it would of course with my luck end up being a post where I had a typo in the subject line... lol... Also it seemed utterly useless given your reply... but I was only mildly humiliated. 
I am impressed with how rapidly you respond to clueless people like me in an effort to make the game more enjoyable for all. Thanks for the info - I did try using the update button from DenAgent and it was after I had been able to see the Decal Panel in game but unable to get Lifetank to work. After hitting the Upate button from within DenAgent, I had the red x's again.
I'll try it again though anyway...

Okay good news and bad news...
First! I'm so glad you clarifed that about the update button only being an issue on patch day. It worked this time and now I can see Decal from in game....
But, the bad news is Liftank isn't working. I don't see any lifetank-generated text on the screen or in the chat panel and I can't remember the first time when I initially installed it to get it working. I do remember that I had this problem with Lifetank when I first installed it and I had to copy a file to get it working... just don't remember what...
Thanks so much... any clue about lifetank fix?

Which "sticky" are you referring to?
Also.. have you tried removing LifeTank completely (renaming the folder) and re-installing it fresh? (the most updated version).
Perhaps getting a fresh install of LifeTank might fix things. Then you can copy over your configs and files and stuff and see if perhaps there is something there that is breaking.

Oooh.. I see..
That isn't a sticky on my site... my site just doesn't get a lot of forum traffic these days.
As for my reply, that was a reply to the ability to get ACDualClient and Decal to work together on Vista for all clients, not just one. Your post seemed that you could only get 1 to work, so I was pointing out the threads where people have been able to get multiple clients to work properly with Decal in Vista.
Sorry if it sounded harsh or embarrassed you. That was not my intention.
