Subject: Video Card Recommendation?
I just got a new computer with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB video card.

The game runs fantastically outdoors but inside (like dungeons) the game freezes up. I have been round and round and round again with Turbine tech support answering the same questions for them 4 and 5 times.

I can only conclude the card and AC are incompatable. Since the computer is less than a week old I need to see if I can swap it out for a different model card.

Does anyone have any suggestions of cards that WILL WORK with AC?

Have not tried that? Also Turbine tech support hasn't recommended that and honestly I wouldn't know how to do that?

Log completely out of AC , then go to your AC folder and rename the client_cell.dat to client_cell.bak or something else .
Then you are aleady done and can log in again , the client_cell.dat will be recreated and you have to download all places again.
If that doesn't fix your problem , delete the new cell_client.dat and rename the old one to client_cell.dat again.

I tried renaming that file but then I couldn't log in at all?

Nobody knows a card compatible with AC? I'm totally fed up and am going to return the computer in it's entirety. Nothing but a weeklong nightmare of tech support email tag with no solutions or really even hope of solutions. I will return the computer, get a different one (make, model, vendor) with a different card (make, model, vendor) and hope for the best.

Any GForce card has always been compatable with AC.

Exactly what I did. I was able to get the ATI returned and I picked up an Nvidea. Game runs great although I have that flicker bug which according to the tech support forum on the Turbine boards is commonplace. I can live with that and the game runs fantasically now.

I run 2 x1900 series ATI Radeons in crossfire and never have any issues. No lag in the last live event with 2 accounts active loaded with decal.

Driver updates are a good thing,

I run a bfg 7950 512k nvidia card. Game works fine here and even in LOTRO. But I'm sure a lesser card will work. Evan your card should work.

Have you tried turning off FSAA (antialiasing).

I just set up a new system with a GeForce 8800GT 512, have all the AC video settings set to the max and I have yet to see any "flickering" issues. I'm amazed at how well AC looks with this card & settings. Granted, I haven't put many AC hours on this yet so it may show up at some point.

For those that have the GeForce 8800 "flickering" problem, how often does this occur? Does it always happen with outdoor skies, or just some of the time? Do you have the AC video settings maxed out?

ATI X1900XT 256 PCI-E card have had it for like 2 years. No issues what so ever in AC.

The fight with ATI/Nvidia is mostly just personal prefference. Although I will admit the newer ATI drivers have gone down-hill in there quality.

Still the best card ever I'd say is the X1950XT 512mb version. Can still out perform most high end cards out today.

There was a thread about the flickering problem here before...
and honestly I don't remember what happened to the thread... if we found a solution or not...

I know I had been trying to gather information about who had flicker and who didn't and what the differences between them were...

hurm...
