Decal Problems
|
For the past few days I have been trying to fix decal, I have in total re-installed Decal 14 times, re-installed .net and Windows w/e 3 times and have shut down all blockable ports and turned off my firewall.
Decal doesn't show up in AC, I have redone XML a few times as well, i have lowered graphics and installed an updated driver for my graphics card, I still can't figure out what's going on, when I run Decal nothing is on besides it. Decal bar just doesnt show up in AC.
What shows up in Red X:
Decal FileService <No DLL>
Version 1 Plugin Surragate 2.9.6.0
I will pay MMD's on DT/SC/VT/WE to someone who can help me fix it!!!!

turn on decal then open it up, so you see those x's or check marks
then on the side there will says export. hit that button.
then copy paste what it says to here
then the devs read it and see if soemthign is missing or didnt take when it was dl'd

You have remnants of an old ACDualClient install.
Install the latest ACDualClient, run it once, then close it and uninstall if you do not want to use it anymore.

close ACDualClient and try again. Post a new export once ACDualClient is closed.
Also.. you have VERY low Video Memory. Technically you should still be able to get a bar, but I don't think you'd be able to run LifeTank and Spies very well on that low of video memory.

Patience. This isn't like the DT board. You don't have to bump your own posts over and over again.
I just got into the office and saw the thread again.
Go hit up http://update.microsoft.com/ and install everything they ask you to install. Make sure everything is fully patched.
Then you need to go through and do a CLEAN INSTALL of decal using the instructions found here: http://forums.acdev.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3445
Hopefully that should allow everything to properly install. Once you've done that, check to make sure Decal works before installing any plugins.

Also.. have you had Decal working WITHIN THE LAST YEAR?
Decal is NOT the same now as it was in 1999. (and actually, Decal didn't exist in 1999)
When Throne of Destiny was released, a new version of Decal had to be released that doesn't work well on low Video Memory machines. Your machine falls into this category. I'm sure you WERE able to run Decal a few years ago, but since ToD came out, it is a different story.

I came back to AC 2 months ago, was using decal fine 5days ago. Decal/Lifetank/Spies ran perfectly fine, just had graphics lag when Lifetank popup was up but other than that just little crap PC lag. Will do what you said Drakier

You had to have done something to your system to have Decal just stop working.
There is NO reason why decal would work 5 days ago, and not today unless you've done something to it.
Perhaps the re-installations you did previously messed something up.
What confuses me the most is that your original export had ACDualClient remnants in it. There is NO way Decal worked in that condition... but it seems to have been like that for a LONG time.. unless you recently screwed something up.
I hear what you're saying... but the pieces just don't match up.

not sure that it would completely matter, but you're still missing .NET 1.0.
I don't know what dependencies the Decal FileService has, but it could be your issue.
You should try installing:

in your C:\Program Files\Decal 3.0\ folder do you have a file named Decal.FileService.dll ?
If your computer said you already have the .NET 1.0 installation, then it is not properly installed as Decal doesn't see it.
I'd recommend checking your Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove the .NET 1.0 Framework. Make sure you ONLY remove 1.0 and not 1.1 or 2.0.
Then go ahead and re=install the .NET 1.0 Framework (With SP3).
For some reason Decal isn't picking up some of the necessary components.

What do you mean by "still doesn't pick up"?
Were you able to uninstall the .NET 1.0?
What happened when you tried to install .NET 1.0 again? What happened when you tried the SP3? Did you get any error messages?

Go to Start/Run and type 'regedit'. In the box that pops up, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Decal\NetworkFilters\{5E9B2FC3-C251-4589-8CE3-2BCA542B98B6}
And reply here with exactly what's in there. It should start with (Default),REG_SZ,Decal FileService
It's a stab in the dark, but it might shed some light on what's going on. And whatever you do, don't change anything, or you could REALLY mess things up.

I noticed on my other machine decal wouldnt load at all until i installed dual client and it was on a fresh install of windows that had nothing. XP starting to get picky?
