I remember that someone played a punk song for me back in the 80's about Neil Armstrong. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was called "Neil Armstrong" because the chorus would repeat his name several times. The music itself was similar in style to something The Dickies or other early punk bands might have played but I haven't been able to find a song by The Dickes with that title.

Does anyone know this song and who played it?

I found 'Neil Armstrong' by The Dexateens on iTunes. The blurb says they used to be punk rock types.

Hope that helps. happy

Thanks, but I don't think that's what I'm looking for. The Dexateens are a relatively new band and described as "roots rock." I'm looking for a punk song from the 80's.

I googled "Neil Armstrong lyrics" and a band called SR-71 came up and when I checked em out on Wikipedia they were formed in 2000. I'll see if I can find anything else. Do you remember any other lyrics by chance besides Neil Armstrong?

Found this too:

San Francisco's ANGST kind of made a splash in their local scene in the early '80s with their "Neil Armstrong" song, and after having released a few DIY discs were signed to the label in 1987 or so. Pick up their 1989 LP, Cry For Happy, I say; very much a "classic SST sound" album (or should I say "second-generation SST sound" meaning it'd obviously been influenced by the Meat Puppets/Minutemen, etc.), it's a very nice, unassuming collection of topical folk-pop with a few twists and turns along the way. A record that's better than my unspeakably lame description. After this I'm quite sure they called it quits.

I think ANGST is the band you might be looking for.
