Today's victim is -Kristi-. I first became acquainted with Kristi on the SWG general board, I think, back when I was a mod. There were some very heated discussion on that craptastic game. I can't contribute because I don't *know* her. But I'll contribute what I can.
When I was a Mod on the Frostfell boards there was a very smart, very witty poster named Opal_of_Frostfell. I think in real life she was a bank manager - but i swear she could have been a newpaper columnist.
I miss her. 
Kristi's post's have that same flare. Same with quite a few other posters here (e.g., D_E, Ta-Yu, Hyper, Anon, etc.). That's my contribution. I'll withhold questions until she posts.

Hi everyone 
Well, I was born January 30, 1982 in Inglewood, California and was immediately placed in an orphanage by my birth mother. Working quickly to rectify the situation, I found my adoptive parents
within a few weeks and they were, to my eternal surprise, glad to have me.
Once my brother's asthma got too poor to stay, thanks to the colorful brown haze over greater Los Angeles, we moved to Henderson, Nevada, home to the Phillips Petroleum explosion of 1988 which still stands as one of my earliest memories as it scared the (bleep) out of me.
Anyways, on to more current events... After and during high school, I worked in the food industry and learned everything I know about customer service from a man named Mitch who ran a
small deli. He was an absolutely charming man who always had a smile for his customers, flirted openly with the female patrons and shook the hand of almost every person who walked in his store.
In late 2000, I started playing Asheron's Call on the Morningthaw server. It wasn't really my first online game as I had played some Mechwarrior 3 and Diablo but it was the first MMORPG I had played. I bounced around between jobs and school for a year or so, still playing AC. I always seemed to have a knack for having far more wealth in the game than I really needed and one of my in-game friends, Killean, suggested that I could make some side money selling my excess sings and plats. Well, that didn't seem like a bad idea so I actually sold them cheap to him for awhile since he was already an established eBay seller. Eventually I decided I could simply do the sales myself and began selling them on my own ID.
Not long after tinkering came along, another friend of mine, Gholam, who was the top weapon tinkerer on the server decided to quit and let it be known that his account was for sale so I offered to buy it. He was happy that someone he knew would keep the character active.
At that time I was good friends with one of the more controversial figures on the server and VN boards, Smirking Revenge. He is an extraordinary coder and he liked the idea of the challenge of setting up the first 'tinkering bot' program. It only took him a few weeks and low and behold, GholamBot became a regular fixture at Sanctuary where he accepted sing keys for automatic weapon tinks.
I'll leave out the details of the RonUSMC, MikeHext, Eldreth debacle that focused around my 'evil business' as that was all played out here on the boards and in other forums for public consumption...
Anyways, as AC was starting to lose accounts for various reasons, I began looking for another game to put my efforts into... I jumped from SWG, HZ, and a few other games before being invited into the CoH/V beta where I found what I believed was a nice 'sleeper' game.
By this time, I was making enough from gaming to quit 'regular jobs' and focus on it full time. I began selling on a single server and rapidly expanded by buying accounts and currency
from people I knew in the game. I began 'employing' regular American players to supply me with currency and saw the possibilities for expansion into other games.
During that time I had made some contacts overseas in the Chinese 'gold farmer' markets (although this was pre-WoW) and was approached with the possibility of buying into one of them myself. I flew to Hangzhou (near Shanghai) to check out the facilities and introduce myself to the previous owners. I installed one of the finest, hardest working people I've ever met as my on-site manager and continue to this day to run the operations from here in Arizona with the help of my stateside employees. I consider the website and PLing company to be of moderate size (we employ about 60 workers on average) and I have contracts with some of the bigger, more well-known sites that most of you in gaming have probably heard of and my company does their PLing for them in certain games.
I also oversee the operations of other Chinese PLing companies but only keep a 'percentage' as I do not own them outright but we merely facilitate communication, handle client's problems, etc.
We are currently in negotiations to take over the customer service department of one of our larger clients but I don't see that happening any time soon which is fine since I'd have to hire more employees here in the States to handle that kind of obligation. I was offered a position outright at the company but declined as it would entail me moving to the east coast. As it is, I have family obligations here in Tucson as well as Vegas that I can't neglect.
Well, I see I've left out most of the personal aspects of my life like my boyfriend of a few years, my drunkard millionaire brother, and various other semi-interesting tidbits like dating a
mid-level mob guy's son in Vegas for a few months years ago and having to come here to Tucson for awhile to avoid any 'problems', but at this point in my life, my business pretty much consumes most of my life so I spent the time talking mostly about that...
Anyways, hope that was at least worth the time to read. If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

And you know, it would help if they would actually include some free samples when they send me the in game spam mail too.
Since most samples seem to be about 10% of the real product, and most of the spam mails I am getting are touting their great per 1000 gold prices.....100g sample per spam mail should be about right.

If it's any consolation, we don't do WoW PLing or currency... Too many bannings, too many servers, and too little money for the work involved in PLing.
So that's not MY guys that are sending you guys annoying random tells, don't worry.
We don't do anything like set up trial 'spam accounts' that macro in game touting our website or stupid (bleep) like that. I myself am STILL a gamer and that sort of intrusive advertising has no place in-game IMO.

1. Yes, I have a cat named Joe. He used to randomly attack people and even got his claws into a cop's thigh who came to the house innocently enough so he's declawed... "In 20 years on the force, I've never been attacked by a cat before."
2. I've traveled to Europe a few times but only once where I was old enough to appreciate it. I only traveled to China that single time. It was ok, but not speaking the language was a definate bummer. Both Europe and China though have an 'old world' feel that I've never felt here in the States and it was great to visit.
3. Alot of my business is intermixed with relaxing as I work from home. I watch South Park, Family Guy, tons of movies, lots of sports... For going out, I used to hit the clubs alot with friends but my schedule and their's aren't as compatible any longer as I work the 'night shift' usually since that's when I can get my work done easier.
4. No, and I've never had much desire to meet her either. I couldn't have possibly chosen better parents if I'd tried.

Edit: As for people who don't like me for various reasons, well, this isn't high school and I long ago stopped caring about people who disapprove of me. Life isn't a popularity contest and you can only be true to yourself and take what comes after...

1a. That's a tough one honestly... I mean, you'll never work more hours than you do when you work for yourself. Overall is it worth it? Yes, I'd say so but it's certainly not for everyone. The ability to work at home was a big factor in starting it though since I care for my grandfather here (which was why I moved back to Tucson permanently from Vegas) and, to a lesser extent, the drunk millionaire brother I mentioned before.
1b. No, I've always kept myself fairly well insulated from involving real life and 'online life'. In a notable exception, I met my boyfriend in an online game and now employ him. ROFL In a happy coincidence, he lived in Tucson as well.
1c. Hmm, other than Hyper and Arch, noone else comes to mind that owns their own business and, no, this is almost the first time I've EVER talked about my business here. Due to the nature of the board itself, it being gaming oriented, 'outing' myself was never something I went out of my way to do. Some of my old friends from the AC monarchy knew my business when I first started (deatheye, for example, who still posts here) but things have changed alot since then, not just with my business, but with the overall landscape of gaming in general. Buying virtual items for RL money used to be verboten but it's much more accepted and almost commonplace these days.
2a Yes, a few years ago I was a passenger in a drunk driving wreck and broke my arm. I was in the hospital for one day then. I'm not a sickly person though and detest going to the doctor/obgyn/emergency room/etc...
2b No tattoos nor body piercings other than for earrings.
2c I own a cherry-red 1994 Porsche 911 convertible but actually do most of my driving in my brother's 2004 Lexus LS. It's much more reliable and safe and he usually isn't in shape enough to drive anyways.
2d. Wow. ROFL that's one I'd have to think about. I don't tend to remember bad pickup lines on purpose.

Actually my bf dropped my digital cam months ago so no more pics are imminent, sorry everyone. And I don't post pics very often anyways... I stay out of the limelight usually and it took alot of thought before I was even willing to put myself on a 'focuson' thread. I'm just not the AW-type I guess.

Do you think that your business is justifiably legitimate? Your business is based upon the breaking of an agreement made between you (The Player) and the Game Developer? Is your business officially licensed? It would seem that in a case where you are essentially breaking the law by trading another person's(Or Company's in this case) property that you would be working in an "under the table" environment.
Follow up question, has being a female given you advantages in starting your business? It seems that you got started just by buying an account and stemming from there. Given the fact that a lot of MMO players are considered basement virgins, do you think your "womanly qualities" gave you an extra edge in getting what you what?

First off, certainly the business is legitimate. We pay taxes, the company pays SS taxes, etc... And it seems to be a common misconception that being in the vitual gaming marketplace is a violation of law. There's no laws at all being violated. A game ToS is NOT law, it is a non-legally binding electronic document that basically says, in a nutshell, 'here's the rules, it's our game, if you violate the rules, we can ban you... as a matter of fact, we can ban you or anyone at any time for any reason because it's our playground'. There is no governmental or international law that forbids what we do so the notion that my business, as well as the others in the industry, are inherently 'illegal' is simply not true.
As for me being a woman, well, I'm just a businessperson. If it helps that I and my stateside are female, then that's great. But it's not like I flirt with customers to get them to order more or anything silly like that. This is a professionally run company.
Also, you'd be surprised how few of our clients seem to be the sterotypical 'basement virgins'. In fact, most of our clients are themsevles business people, military, couples playing the game who want a boost, etc. I can probably count on one hand the people who've left me the impression that they were locked away in their basement cowering from the sun. If anything, those types of people are probably less likely to spend RL money on virtual goods because they are, as you say, locked away engrossing themselves in their virtual world.

I don't consider that we're doing them a favor, no. We provide a service in the same way that a car mechanic, fast food joint, or any other business does. Are those people doing you a favor by taking your money for their work? Not in my opinion. We are appreciated for what I consider as steller customer service but we equally appreciate their patronage.
As for the 'common player', well, that's not something I particularly give any thought to. As I mentioned, we do not 'spam advertise' in-game nor in any way intrude on their gameplay so we are as discrete and lowkey as possible.
And lastly, yes, starting the business was hard. It's one thing to run around and farm gold (or gil or influence or ISK, etc) but quite another to gather contacts, gain the trust of clients, find good people to work for you, etc. Just because the product being offered is gaming services doesn't mean your average player could make a successful business of it without alot of time invested and hard work, believe me.
And I don't consider myself to be 'justifying' myself or the business btw. People can approve or disapprove all they want, that's their perogative. Rho has always been nice on here to me and I don't expect that to change. There are PLENTY of purists still left in gaming although I would submit that their overall percentage amoung players seems to be decreasing.

That's because they're using the same level grinding techniques they've been using since UO :\
Each MMO that comes out is the same core game with new surroundings/characters. People are getting more and more tired doing the level grind as new ones come out.

That's all true, Mythik, and I'd also submit that the WoW crowd that came barreling into the MMORPG world in huge numbers simply was unfamiliar with alot of the 'rules' such as 'don't buy stuff!'. To many people (including a fairly high percentage of new players), buying leveling, currency, items, etc is no different than spending money on other entertainment outlets like movies, music, cable tv, etc.
